Prepare detailed electrical cost estimates for utility-scale solar and BESS projects, from concept through to detailed design stage.

Review tender documentation, drawings, and specifications to identify scope, risks, and estimating requirements.
n
Develop quantity take-offs for electrical materials, plant, and labour, including PV modules, DC/AC cabling, switchboards, inverters, and BoP infrastructure.
n
Prepare and submit compliant, competitive tender responses within required timeframes.
n
Source and evaluate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to build accurate cost bases.
n
Prepare project budgets, cost plans, and margin analysis to support tender submissions and delivery handover.
n
Identify value engineering opportunities to improve project competitiveness and profitability.
n
Interpret electrical drawings, single line diagrams, and technical specifications to inform estimates, and liaise with design engineers to resolve documentation discrepancies.
n
Liaise with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to gather pricing and scope information.
n
Work closely with project managers, engineers, and the commercial team during handover and post-tender clarifications.
n
Prepare estimate summaries, cost reports, and presentations for internal review and approval.
n
Maintain accurate estimating records, pricing databases, and lessons‐learned documentation.

Duties & Responsibilities

Preferred Experience Requirements
n
n
Minimum 3–5 years' experience in electrical estimating, preferably within renewable energy, solar, or heavy infrastructure construction.
n
Demonstrated experience estimating utility‐scale solar and/or BESS projects (highly regarded).
n
Strong analytical, numerical, and problem‐solving skills.
n
Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
n




Sound knowledge of Australian Standards (AS/NZS ****, AS/NZS ****, etc.) and relevant electrical codes.
n
Experience with subcontractor and supplier procurement and pricing processes.
n
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tenders simultaneously under tight deadlines.
n
Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours as needed during tender periods.
n

Skill Requirements
n
n
Strong understanding of electrical construction methods, materials, and costs for solar and BESS projects.
n
Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Causeway, Buildsoft, or similar).
n
Strong computer skills, emphasis on Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, and SharePoint.
n
Robust technological literacy including AI literacy.
n
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
n
Financial and job cost accounting knowledge.
n
Ability to work under pressure and cooperate to achieve maximum efficiency.
n
Understanding of construction contracts and the administration of them.
n
Project time and cost tracking and analysis – ability to enter large quantities of data of time and cost to analyse against budget.
n
Organisation – the ability to understand and assist in the planning of new and existing activities.
n
Communication – the ability to communicate clearly, effectively and regularly with team members.
n
Good work ethics and the ability to treat documents with confidentiality.
n
Must have excellent attention to detail.

Preferred Licenses / Qualifications
n
n
Degree or trade qualification in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
n
Driver's Licence.
n
Construction White Card (General Construction Induction)
