Responsibilities
n
n
Design, administer, and maintain schemas, tables, and views across development, test, staging, and production environments. Optimise indexes, queries, and storage to meet strict SLAs.
n
Apply security hardening, access controls, encryption, and patching in line with the security frameworks and audit requirements.
n
Implement backup, recovery, and fail over procedures; contribute to disaster recovery planning and testing.
n
Collaborate with developers to optimise SQL queries, refine data access patterns, and support CMS (Drupal) and API-driven data integration's.
n
Provide specialist troubleshooting for database-related incidents, support data migrations,



and maintain version-controlled change documentation
n

Essential skills
n
n
Experience administering enterprise databases (e.g. MS SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL/MariaDB), including performance tuning, monitoring and capacity planning.
n
Experience implementing security controls, backups, recovery and high-availability patterns in line with governance and audit requirements.
n
Ability to support upgrades, patches and structured change processes, including testing and issue resolution.
n
Solid SQL skills and experience collaborating with developers and technical teams to optimise queries and data design.
n
n
Desirable skills
n
n
Experience with AWS database services (e.g. RDS/Aurora, snapshots, Performance Insights) and cloud-hosted operational patterns.
n
Experience supporting web platforms or CMS technologies (Drupal desirable) and data integration's with APIs.
n
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated database deployment or schema management.
n
Experience working in multi-disciplinary Agile delivery teams.
