About the role
Working alongside a co-mentor with a maximum class size of 10 students (Ratio of 1:5), you will be responsible for providing support services to youth who are showing early signs of disengagement from learning.
In this varied and flexible role, classified as Youth Worker under our Enterprise Agreement, working with these students you will:
Provide group facilitation within a classroom-style environment addressing social issues, implementing practical information and strategies to assist students to thrive to become positive citizens within their communities.
Provide support to help students remain focused on re-engagement into school life Identify and support young people's educational needs and goals
Use a holistic approach to highlight the current needs and supports to students, in collaboration with Well- Being Teams in Schools.
Identify and support young people's educational needs and goals Ensure mandatory reporting in-line with legislative requirements
Deliver individual and/or group sessions within a defined structure in resilience building, relationships, and emotional regulation skills.
Support the engagement of students from various backgrounds and assist with connections within a school environment and local PCYC services.

About You
Are you a passionate person, as well as:
Do you have prior experience working with young people aged 8-12 years of age, including moderate to high behaviours, neurodiversity, and complex needs - predominately boys
Prior fitness and sports background
Ability to facilitate both small group sessions and one on one mentoring
A positive role model who supports students overall wellbeing
Willing to participate in whole school events and wellbeing initiatives
Do you have a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) and National Police Criminal History check?
(Issued within the last 6 months)
Do you have Qualification/s in Youth Work, Social Work, Education, Community Development or a related discipline?
Do you have excellent communication skills and proven ability to engage with young people with group activities.
