We're building the next generation of ourGoogle Cloud-based AI and data capability, and we're looking for an experiencedData Engineer – AIto help make it happen.
This is a hands‐on role for someone who can take a commercial problem fromidea → data → AI/ML solution → production → continuous improvement.
You won't just build pipelines.
You'll help create AI‐driven solutions that influence how we forecast demand, allocate stock, understand customers, optimise promotions and make better commercial decisions across the business.

Working across Technology, Data, Ecommerce, Marketing, Merchandise, Supply Chain and Operations, you'll design and deliver production‐grade data and AI solutions usingGoogle Cloud.
Your initial focus will include:
Demand forecasting
Inventory and stock allocation
Promotion forecasting
New-product forecasting
Marketing attribution
Bundle optimisation
Store clustering
Inventory risk
Customer and ecommerce behaviour
You'll also contribute to our growingGenerative AI and Agentic AI capability.
Your Mission
As our Data Engineer – AI, you'll be responsible for:
Designing and building scalableGoogle Cloud data pipelines
Developing robust data models and analytical datasets inBigQuery
Building feature engineering pipelines across retail, ecommerce, marketing and inventory data
Developing, training, tuning, evaluating and deploying ML models usingVertex AI
Building forecasting, predictive analytics, clustering and recommendation solutions
Integrating AI/ML solutions with enterprise, ecommerce, inventory and operational systems
Developing APIs and event-driven integrations for AI predictions and recommendations
Implementing data-quality controls, automated testing and model validation




EstablishingGoogle Cloud Logging, Monitoring and Observability
Monitoring model performance, data/model drift, latency, errors and AI costs
Conducting A/B testing, backtesting and production validation
Supporting and continuously improving production AI systems
Implementing appropriate retry, fallback, rollback and human‐escalation mechanisms
Creating transparent technical documentation, architectures and operational runbooks
Translating complex commercial problems into practical, scalable AI solutions
Build What's Next in AI
We're particularly interested in candidates with practical exposure to modern Generative and Agentic AI technologies, including:
Generative AI and LLMs
Autonomous and multi-agent systems
Agent orchestration
Human-in-the-loop workflows
Agentic RAG, Self-RAG and GraphRAG
LangChain and LangGraph
CrewAI and/or AutoGen
Model Context Protocol (MCP)
Embeddings and vector databases
Semantic and hybrid search
Structured outputs and function/tool calling
AI evaluation and agent observability
AI security and governance
We're looking forreal implementation experience— whether through production systems, working prototypes or meaningful projects — rather than theoretical knowledge alone.

You'll bring:
5+ years' experienceacross data engineering, AI/ML engineering, software engineering or a related discipline
3+ years delivering production data, analytics or AI/ML solutions
Strong hands‐on experience withGoogle Cloud Platform
AdvancedBigQuery, SQL and Pythonskills
Hands‐on experience withVertex AI
Strong ETL/ELT and cloud data‐pipeline experience
Experience with data modelling and feature engineering
Experience training,



evaluating and deploying ML models
Strong knowledge of forecasting/time‐series modelling and predictive analytics
Experience with recommendation systems, clustering and/or optimisation
Experience integrating AI/ML solutions with enterprise applications
Strong REST API and event‐driven integration knowledge
Experience with Google Cloud Logging, Monitoring and Observability
Experience with automated testing, data validation and experimentation
Experience supporting and monitoring production AI systems
Understanding of IAM, data security and cloud governance
Strong architecture and technical documentation skills
Agile, Scrum or hybrid delivery experience
A relevant bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, IT, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or a related discipline
Most importantly, you'll bringownership, curiosity and a bias towards action.
When something is difficult, you'll investigate, prototype, test and find a practical way forward.
