Veterinary Nurse – Maternity Leave Cover (Fixed-Term, Full-Time – 6 Months)

At Oxley Highway Vet Hospital, we are seeking an experienced and compassionate Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly and supportive team on a 6-month maternity leave cover contract, with the potential for ongoing employment thereafter.

About the Role
n
You will be working full time alongside experienced vets and nurses, providing high-quality nursing care across a varied and interesting caseload. Duties include (but are not limited to):
n
n
Assisting our veterinarians with routine exams and procedures
n
Providing surgical and hospital nursing care, including anaesthetic monitoring
n
Delivering pre- and post-operative patient care, as well as offering grief support to clients
n
Administering medications and preparing treatments as required
n
Managing the admission and discharge process for surgical and hospital patients
n




Communicating treatment plans and updates to clients
n
Performing blood collection, testing, and IV catheter placement
n
Assisting with diagnostic imaging (x-rays and ultrasounds)
n
Supporting dental care, including scale and polish and performing dental x-rays
n
Contributing to day-to-day nursing tasks to support our vets and team in providing the highest standard of patient care
n

What We're Looking For
n
n
Minimum 2 years' experience as a qualified Veterinary Nurse
n
Confidence in both surgical and medical nursing
n
Strong anaesthetic monitoring skills
n
Excellent communication and client care abilities
n
Ability to work well within a close-knit team
n
A calm, organised, and proactive approach under pressure
n
n
