About the Opportunity

We are hiring for a leading financial institution looking to onboard multiple Senior Java Developers across several critical engineering teams in the Sydney CBD.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
n
Designing, developing, and maintaining robust, scalable, and secure microservices using Java.
n
Collaborating with cross-functional teams (Product, DevOps, QA) to deliver high-quality financial software.
n
Migrating legacy banking applications to modern cloud architectures.
n
Participating in code reviews, mentoring junior peers, and championing engineering best practices.
n
n
Technical Skills & Experience Required
n
n
Experience: Minimum 5+ years of skilled experience in Java development (Java 8/11/17+).
n
Industry Background: Proven experience working within the Banking, Financial Services, or FinTech sectors is essential.
n
Frameworks: Strong expertise with Spring / Spring Boot,



Hibernate, or similar frameworks.
n
Architecture: Deep understanding of Microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and event-driven design (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ).
n
Cloud & DevOps: Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab, Docker, Kubernetes).
n
Database: Proficient in SQL (Oracle, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases.
n
Testing: Commitment to writing clean, testable code using JUnit, Mockito, and TDD practices.
n

Bonus Points For

Experience with domain-driven design(DDD).
n
Knowledge of core banking systems, payments infrastructure (e.g., NPP, SWIFT), or trading platforms.
n
Familiarity with containerised environments in a highly regulated landscape.
