The successful candidate will combine strong delivery management capability with enough technical understanding to work effectively with engineering and technical leads, identify issues quickly, maintain momentum across multiple workstreams, and provide clear oversight across a portfolio of approximately

Key Responsibilities
Lead a delivery team of approximately nine people responsible for establishing and scaling an automated API patching factory.
Plan and execute an initial
pilot and discovery phase
, capturing findings, dependencies, risks and a repeatable delivery approach.
Scale the outcomes of the pilot across approximately
250 microservices
in the application estate.
Coordinate the onboarding of APIs to
Renovate
to enable automated application of Spring Boot dependency patches.
Lead delivery of the remaining
Spring Boot 4 upgrade program
, including migration of approximately 75 APIs currently operating on Spring Boot 3.
Drive the automation of API testing and validation to reduce manual effort and accelerate delivery.
Coordinate the generation of
automated regression test suites
for APIs, including the use of
Codex and other Frontier AI capabilities
where appropriate.
Work closely with technical leads and engineering leads to understand technical activities, sequencing, dependencies and delivery risks.
Maintain clear visibility of progress across the API portfolio, ensuring every service is appropriately tracked through discovery, remediation, testing, upgrade and completion.
Own sprint planning, backlog management, delivery tracking and agile ceremonies across the program.
Ensure tasks, deliverables, blockers and dependencies are clearly assigned and actively managed.




Produce accurate and timely reporting on delivery progress, risks, issues, milestones and forecast completion.
Coordinate security, engineering, testing and platform stakeholders to ensure vulnerabilities and upgrade requirements are resolved.
Establish repeatable processes, controls and metrics for the automated patching factory.
Prepare the capability for transition into BAU and coordinate the final
handover to Level 3 Support
.
Ensure appropriate documentation, operational processes and knowledge transfer are completed prior to transition.
The Delivery Lead will be accountable for:
Completing the pilot and discovery phase for the automated patching factory.
Establishing a repeatable approach that can be scaled across the full microservices estate.
Onboarding each in-scope API to Renovate for automated Spring Boot patching.
Establishing automated API testing processes.
Generating regression test suites for APIs across the portfolio.
Applying AI-assisted development and testing approaches to materially reduce API testing cycle times.
Scaling the patching and testing capability across approximately ******* APIs and microservices.
Completing migration of the remaining approximately 75 Spring Boot 3 APIs to Spring Boot 4 as part of the FY26 AppSec program.
Establishing transparent portfolio-level tracking of API progress, risks, dependencies and completion.
Transitioning the completed patching factory into Level 3 operational support.
Experience & Capabilities
The successful candidate will have:
Strong experience as a
Delivery Lead, Senior Project Manager or Technical Project Manager
within a complex technology environment.




Demonstrated experience leading delivery teams and guiding team members on priorities, tasks and deliverables.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain oversight across a high volume of concurrent technical activities.
Demonstrated experience with
Agile delivery, sprint planning, backlog management and delivery ceremonies
.
Experience partnering closely with engineering leads, architects and technical leads.
The ability to understand technical issues quickly and translate them into clear delivery actions, risks and dependencies.
Previous involvement in
application modernisation, platform uplift, technology refresh or environment modernisation programs
.
Experience managing large application, API or microservices portfolios would be highly regarded.
Strong delivery governance, RAID management, reporting and stakeholder-management skills.
An understanding of modern
software development lifecycle (SDLC)
practices, CI/CD, automated testing and application security.
Practical awareness of
AI-assisted software engineering and testing
, including the opportunities and controls associated with tools such as Codex.
Familiarity with dependency management and automated patching technologies such as
Renovate
would be advantageous.
Familiarity with
Spring Boot and Java application environments
would be advantageous.
Ideal Profile
This role will suit someone who is highly organised, delivery-focused and comfortable working at the intersection of project delivery and software engineering.
The successful candidate does not need to be the hands‐on technical lead, but must be sufficiently
technical and SDLC‐savvy
to challenge assumptions, identify gaps, understand engineering dependencies and quickly determine whether delivery is on track.
They will be comfortable operating in a fast‐paced setting, maintaining detailed oversight of a large API portfolio while keeping the team focused on measurable outcomes.
