Job Description
Position Objectives
Sexual Violence Justice Navigator position covers the Far West NSW catchment, including Wentworth, Broken Hill, Central Darling and Balranald LGAs.
The Navigator will be based at Mallee Family Care's Dareton office, with scheduled outreach to various communities within the Far West NSW catchment.
Additionally tele-support will also be available for clients in remote locations.
The Navigator will support victim-survivors of sexual violence aged 16 years and over to understand their rights and options, navigate police reporting, court processes and compensation pathways, and access appropriate support at each stage of the criminal justice process.
The Navigator will deliver services across all four Program stages.
At pre-reporting, the navigator will provide accessible information about rights, reporting options and available supports, and deliver a minimum service package.
During the police investigation and court stages, the Navigator will provide consistent support, accompany victim-survivors through processes,



coordinate with existing services.
At the supported exit stage, the Navigator will provide information and warm referrals to ensure continuity of care beyond the justice process.
The Navigator position sits within Mallee Family Care's Child and Family Services NSW directorate and will be structurally separate from Mallee Family Care Community Legal Centre.
This separation will avoid potential conflicts of interest associated with co-location with a legal practice, while enabling the Navigator to draw on Mallee Family Care's broader family services infrastructure, including case coordination, Aboriginal cultural programs, trauma-informed practice frameworks and warm referral pathways.
Victim-survivors may access the service through Mallee Family Care's existing referral pathways, including the Far West Local Health District's Violence, Abuse and Neglect Service, NSW Police, Mallee Family Care Community Legal Centre, courts and self-referral.
Demand for service is monitored through caseload tracking and regular review with DCJ.
The service will prioritise First Nations communities and remote communities where distance, isolation and limited access to specialist services create additional barriers to disclosure and engagement with the justice system.
New Position - Fixed Term Full Time until 30 June ****
The person employed as a Sexual Assault Justice Navigator will be expected to have previous relevant experience in the field and will be required to hold an accredited qualification relevant to the position at Degree qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Community Services, Law, Criminology or a candidate who has extensive experience within the field of Justice Pathways and/or Sexual Violence Victim/Survivor Field and holds a Diploma relevant qualification should also apply.
A current drivers licence, a willingness to travel and preparedness to be accommodated overnight when required.
