Join a high-performing project team delivering one of South East Queensland's most significant infrastructure programs.
The Coomera Connector Stage 1 (Coomera to Nerang) team is responsible for completing the design, environmental referral, site investigations and review to support the delivery of the Coomera Connector project.
In this role, you will report to the Project Manager and play a key role in ensuring environmental compliance and sustainability across the project lifecycle. Your responsibilities will include:
Responsibilities
Providing high-level advice to the state department on statutory obligations under relevant environmental legislation, including the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act **** (EPBC Act
Supporting the delivery of Commonwealth and State environmental approvals, including environmental offsets
Delivering specialist environmental advice across all project phases, including:
Environmental assessments and compliance
Review of project designs, surveys, and spatial data
Development of Environmental Management Plans (EMPs), contract specifications, audits, and briefs
Identifying environmental risks and constraints and negotiating design modifications where required
Advising project teams on environmental risks, issues, and mitigation strategies
Coordinating and managing environmental offset acquisitions and associated land requirements
Liaising with internal teams, government agencies, and industry stakeholders
Preparing high-level written advice, briefing notes, and ministerial correspondence
Representing the project in meetings, working groups, and stakeholder forums
Supporting sustainable infrastructure outcomes across the Coomera Connector Program
Successful Candidate
A degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management, Natural Resource Management, or equivalent
Strong knowledge of Commonwealth and Queensland environmental legislation and approval processes
Proven experience in environmental assessment, compliance, and management within infrastructure or major projects
Ability to provide strategic advice and influence project outcomes through sound environmental decision-making
Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams
High-level written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing reports and briefing materials
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and manage environmental risks
Mandatory Requirements
A Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management or Natural Resource Management from a recognized tertiary institution or equivalent qualification is mandatory.
Current holder of a 'C' class driver's license.
Criminal history screening must be conducted on the recommended person for this role.
