Rogue Rabbit Cafe Pty Ltd is seeking an enthusiastic and motivatedApprentice Chef (1st or 2nd year)to join our culinary team inNorthcote, Victoria.
This is afull-time apprenticeship positionthat offers an exceptional opportunity to develop your cooking skills under the guidance of experienced culinary professionals.
As an apprentice chef, you will work in a fast-paced kitchen environment, learning industry best practices whilst contributing to the creation of high-quality dishes that delight our customers.
This role is perfect for someone passionate about food and eager to build a career in the hospitality and culinary arts sector.
Key responsibilities
Assist senior chefs in the preparation, cooking and plating of dishes according to established recipes and kitchen standards
Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping and portioning vegetables, proteins and other components
Operate kitchen equipment safely and maintain cleanliness of workstations and cooking areas
Follow food safety and hygiene protocols at all times, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
Learn and apply various cooking techniques, including grilling, sautéing, baking and other culinary methods
Support the kitchen team during service, responding promptly to orders and working collaboratively under pressure
Assist with stock rotation, food storage and inventory management
Contribute to the development of new menu items and participate in kitchen meetings and training sessions
Maintain a professional appearance and demeanour whilst representing Rogue Rabbit Cafe with pride
What we're looking for
Someone who want to enroll in or completed a 1st or 2nd year apprenticeship in commercial cookery or culinary arts
Genuine passion for cooking and a desire to develop culinary skills and knowledge
Solid attention to detail and commitment to food quality and presentation
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and take direction from senior kitchen staff
Excellent time management and organisational skills to handle multiple tasks in a busy kitchen
Physical fitness and stamina to stand for extended periods and handle the demands of a kitchen environment
Willingness to learn and adapt, with a positive and professional attitude towards feedback
Sound knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices, with current or willingness to obtain relevant food handling certifications
Flexibility with shift patterns, including potential weekend and evening work as required by cafe operations
Previous hospitality or kitchen experience is advantageous but not essential
