Chandler Macleod is partnering with Rio Tinto to recruit an HSE Advisor supporting operations across Queensland Alumina Limited (QAL) and Boyne Smelters Limited (BSL).
n
This is an chance to work alongside experienced operational leaders within a complex heavy industrial environment, where you'll play a key role in driving a proactive safety culture, supporting frontline teams and contributing to the safe delivery of critical maintenance and operational activities.
n

About the Role
n
As part of the site HSE team, you'll work closely with leaders, contractors and operational personnel to provide practical health and safety support across daily site activities.
n
n
Providing day-to-day HSE support across operational work areas
n
Conducting field leadership interactions, workplace inspections and safety observations
n
Supporting incident investigations and corrective actions
n
Assisting with risk assessments, JHAs, SWMS and other safety documentation
n
Coaching and mentoring employees on safe work practices
n
Supporting contractor management, inductions and onboarding activities
n
Participating in toolbox talks, pre-start meetings and safety initiatives
n
Monitoring hazards, controls and action close-out to support continuous improvement
n




Promoting compliance with site procedures, standards and legislative requirements
n

About You
n
n
Relevant HSE or WHS qualifications (Bachelor's Degree or equivalent industry qualification preferred)
n
Experience within heavy industry, mining, manufacturing, construction, processing or similar operational environments
n
Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships across all levels of site
n
A practical understanding of risk management, safety systems and legislative compliance
n
The confidence to engage with frontline teams and influence positive safety outcomes
n
n
Candidates with approximately 12 months of relevant HSE experience are encouraged to apply if they demonstrate robust capability, initiative and a willingness to learn.
