We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Technician to join our South Australian technical team.
The role You will provide technical support for the design, testing, commissioning, monitoring and maintenance of solar PV and battery energy storage systems.
You will prepare electrical drawings and technical documentation, perform calculations, analyse operating data, assist with equipment selection and cost estimation, and support our engineering and installation teams in resolving technical issues.
Key responsibilities Assist Electrical Engineers and Engineering Technologists with the design and layout of residential and commercial solar PV and battery systems.
Review electricity-consumption data, site information and customer load profiles to support solar and battery system sizing.
Prepare single-line diagrams, electrical schematics, equipment layouts, string configurations, cable schedules and as-built drawings.
Perform technical calculations involving cable sizing, voltage drop, inverter loading, battery capacity, expected energy yield and equipment ratings.
Assist with selecting compatible solar modules, inverters, batteries, meters, protection devices and monitoring equipment.
Undertake site inspections and collect switchboard, supply, load, equipment and cable-routing information.
Assist licensed electricians and engineering personnel with system testing and commissioning.
Record and analyse voltage, current, insulation, generation, battery and communications test results.
Configure and verify inverter, battery, monitoring and export-control settings in accordance with approved designs and manufacturers' instructions.
Monitor installed systems and investigate faults, alerts, communications failures and performance issues.
Prepare technical information for grid-connection applications, commissioning records and project handover documentation.
Calculate material quantities and assist with bills of materials and project cost estimates.
Liaise with equipment manufacturers and suppliers regarding technical issues, warranties and product compatibility.
Review completed systems and documents for consistency with approved designs, project specifications and applicable technical requirements.
Prepare technical reports, service records, performance summaries and recommended corrective actions.
Qualifications and experience To be considered, applicants must have: An Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or a closely related discipline, or an equivalent recognised qualification.
At least three years of relevant full time employment experience as an Electrical Engineering Technician or in a closely related technical role.
Experience supporting the design, testing, commissioning or maintenance of electrical systems.
Demonstrated experience preparing electrical drawings, calculations, test records and technical reports.
Knowledge of solar PV, inverters, battery energy storage, electrical protection and monitoring systems.
Experience with CAD software and relevant solar-design or equipment-monitoring platforms.
Strong analytical, technical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
A current driver's licence and the ability to attend project sites.
Desirable Experience with residential and commercial solar and battery installations.
Familiarity with South Australian electricity-distributor connection requirements.
Experience with products from Sigenergy, Sungrow, SolaX, Fronius, FranklinWH, Tesla or comparable manufacturers.
Knowledge of export-control systems, smart meters and EV-charging equipment.
Construction Industry White Card and relevant site-safety training.
Familiarity with applicable Australian Standards and Solar Accreditation Australia requirements.

A competitive salary of $85,000–$95,000 plus superannuation, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
