Electronic Instrument Trades Worker (Full-Time) – WTG Pty Ltd t/a CST Composites Job Summary WTG Pty Ltd trading as CST Composites is a manufacturer of cost-effective, high-quality filament wound carbon fibre tube components predominantly for the marine industry. The company specialises in advanced composite manufacturing solutions, producing precision-engineered carbon fibre components that require reliable and accurate computer-controlled production systems. We are seeking an experienced Electronic Instrument Trades Worker to join our team on a full time, ongoing basis.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, testing, calibration, maintenance, and repair of electronic instruments, control systems, and computer-controlled machinery used in the manufacturing process. The role will support the efficient operation of production equipment by ensuring electronic systems and components are operating safely, accurately, and reliably.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the end-to-end procedures of computer-controlled machines, including assembly, testing, calibration, installation, and commissioning.
n
Install, test, calibrate, and maintain electronic instruments, control systems, sensors, and related components used in CNC machines and manufacturing equipment.
n
Inspect and assess the condition of CNC machines, electronic systems, and instrumentation regularly to identify faults, errors, and potential causes of malfunctions.
n
Perform preventative and routine maintenance on machinery, electronic equipment, and control systems to ensure they remain in excellent working condition.
n
Diagnose faults and troubleshoot electronic systems, instruments, and machine control components to identify the cause of equipment issues.
n
Initiate repair and replacement of faulty electronic components, instruments, and control system parts.
n
Replace defective electronic components, sensors, wiring, switches, and other instrumentation components to restore machine functionality.
n
Repair defective parts of machinery and equipment used in manufacturing operations to ensure efficient and reliable operation.
n
Conduct testing and calibration of repaired equipment and electronic systems to verify correct operation and compliance with technical requirements.
n
Ensure all systems and components are functioning correctly during new control system installations through the application of electronic principles, technical standards, and manufacturer requirements.
n
Read and interpret technical manuals, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment documentation when carrying out installation, maintenance, and repair activities.
n
Provide technical guidance and support to machinists and colleagues regarding the correct operation and use of computer-controlled machinery in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
n
Monitor machine performance and identify changes in operating conditions that may affect production efficiency, equipment reliability, or product quality.
n
Maintain accurate records of daily observations, maintenance activities, repairs, testing results, and equipment conditions.
n
Work collaboratively with production and manufacturing teams to minimise equipment downtime and support continuous production operations.
n
Ensure all work is completed in accordance with workplace health and safety requirements and relevant technical standards.

What We're Looking For
n
n
Relevant qualification
n
Minimum one year of relevant experience as an Electronic Instrument Trades Worker or in a similar electronic maintenance role.
n
Strong knowledge of electronic systems, instrumentation, control systems, and computer-controlled machinery.
n
Experience with installation, testing, calibration, fault finding, and repair of electronic equipment.
n
Ability to diagnose and repair faults in electronic components, instruments, and machine control systems.
n
Ability to interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and equipment manuals.
n
Understanding of CNC machinery, automated manufacturing equipment, and industrial control systems.
n
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
n
Ability to work independently and as part of a technical team.
n
Good communication skills and ability to provide technical support to production personnel.
n
