About the Opportunity
n
Bondwoods Transport (Aust) is seeking a proactive and experienced Safety & Compliance Officer to oversee and drive compliance across its transport operations.
n
This role is critical to ensuring the business meets all NHVL, HVNL, Road Transport Law and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) obligations, while continuously improving safety, systems, and compliance outcomes.
n
You'll work closely with drivers, management, and senior leadership, playing a hands‐on role in audits, investigations, training, and operational compliance.
n
What You'll Be Doing
n
In this role, you will:
n
n
Ensure compliance with NHVL, HVNL, Road Transport Laws and CoR obligations
n
Manage heavy vehicle accreditations, permits, maintenance schedules and compliance documentation
n
Investigate and resolve compliance breaches, incidents and non‐conformances
n
Maintain accurate compliance records and support reporting and data entry
n
Develop, review and maintain policies, procedures and training materials
n
Oversee onboarding and ongoing compliance for employees and subcontractors
n
Coordinate and participate in internal and external compliance audits
n
Conduct audits of insurance, registrations, licences and pre‐start checks
n
Analyse fleet performance and compliance data to support continuous improvement
n
Work collaboratively with operations, drivers and leadership to embed safety culture
n

What We're Looking For
n
To be successful, you will have:
n
n
Minimum 3 years' experience in transport compliance, auditing or risk management
n
Robust working knowledge of Australian transport legislation, including:
n
NHVR / NHVL
n
HVNL
n
Chain of Responsibility (CoR)
n
Mass Management
n
Load Restraint
n
Maintenance Management
n
Experience with transport management systems, such as:
n
Gearbox
n
V-DAQ
n
TN360
n
Rapid Global
n
High attention to detail with strong integrity and objectivity
n
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data
n
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
n
Ability to engage drivers, managers and senior leadership
n
A proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement
