Job Description

Cityview Farm is seeking a highly motivated casual Stud Hand & Walk Out assistant to join our dedicated team. We operate as a thoroughbred mare farm located in Gisborne South, Victoria, approximately 45 minutes from Melbourne CBD.

This is a diverse, hands-on position involving the daily care and management of broodmares, foals, weanlings, yearlings and spelling horses, as well as transporting mares and mares with foals to walk-outs throughout Victoria.

Key responsibilities include:

Assisting the veterinarian
n
Assisting the farrier
n
Cleaning and maintaining stables, yards, and paddocks
n
Daily feed run and making of feeds
n
Monitoring the well-being of bloodstock as well as identifying and reporting any injuries and other abnormalities back to manager or supervisor
n
Transporting mares and mares with foals to walk-outs using the farm's vehicle and horse float
n
Ensuring horses are safely loaded, transported and unloaded

Assist with preparation of bloodstock for sales.

The successful applicant will:

n

n
Hold a current full Victorian Driver Licence
n
Have experience towing a horse float
n
Be confident and experienced handling horses
n
Be reliable, organised and able to work both independently and as part of a small team
n
Adaptable with working hours, as walk-outs may be required on weekends, early mornings or evenings
n
Previous thoroughbred industry experience is preferred although applicants with solid horse handling skills and a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply

This position is not eligible for 88-day regional visa work or employer sponsorship. Only applicants with working rights in Australia will be considered.
