Job Description
Talent International is currently recruiting for a Safety Lead to work for the Local Government, based in Blacktown. This position is a contract role for 2 months initially, with a view to be extended, and the role pays $77.39 per hour + Super.

7 hours a day / 35 hours a week

The role
n
As Safety Lead, you will help establish and maintain a secure, healthy and compliant workplace for Council employees, contractors, volunteers and visitors. You will provide practical WHS advice, promote a robust safety culture, and support compliance with relevant WHS legislation, policies and procedures.

Key responsibilities
n
n
Promote WHS compliance and protected work practices across Council operations.
n
Conduct workplace inspections, internal WHS audits and hazard assessments.
n
Identify hazards, coordinate corrective actions and follow up non-conformances.
n
Assist with WHS incident investigations and review safety reports.
n
Support Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs) and consult with workers, contractors and managers on workplace changes.
n
Provide advice on WHS training, inductions, PPE and health monitoring activities.
n
Monitor emergency response, first aid arrangements and contractor safety management.
n
Promote the use of risk registers, permits to work and other WHS controls.
n
Maintain WHS records, document control processes and reporting requirements.
n
Collect, analyse and report on WHS data to identify trends and improvement prospects.
n
Make practical recommendations to reduce workplace risks.
n

About you
n
To be successful, you will have:
n
n
A Diploma in Work Health and Safety or a related discipline.
n
Solid WHS experience, including WHS systems and safety management.
n
Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, regulations and compliance requirements.
n
Experience delivering basic WHS training and supporting workplace inductions.
n
The ability to work effectively across a wide-ranging and multi-dimensional operational environment.
n
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
n
A current Class C Driver Licence.
n
The ability to work collaboratively within a dynamic WHS team.
n
Understanding of WHS audit processes.
n
Experience within Local Government.
n
Experience working for a NSW self-insured employer.
