Production Engineering - Design and Programming
We're looking for an experiencedProduction Engineerto join our manufacturing team.
This is a hands‐on role combiningproduction engineering, CAD/CAM and CNC programming, Design for Manufacture (DFM), customer collaboration and programming team leadership.

About the role
As our Production Engineer, you'll work closely with our Design, Estimating, Programming and Production teams to improve manufacturing processes and ensure products can be manufactured safely, accurately and efficiently.
Importantly, this isnot a purely supervisory engineering role.
You'll be expected to remain hands‐on withCAD/CAM and CNC programming, while also supporting and leading our programming team.
You'll also have the opportunity towork directly with customers on Design for Manufacture, helping them turn their concepts and designs into practical, high‐quality and manufacturable solutions.
Key responsibilities
Develop, evaluate and improve manufacturing processes and workflows.
Create and modifyCAD/CAM programs for CNC manufacturing equipment.
Undertake hands‐onCNC programmingand programming support as required.
Review customer drawings, CAD models and specifications and translate them into efficient manufacturing solutions.
Work directly with customers to provideDesign for Manufacture (DFM)advice and improve manufacturability.




Assist customers with product development from initial design review and prototyping through to production.
Work closely with Design, Estimating, Programming and Production teams to resolve manufacturing challenges.
Optimise programs, tooling, nesting, setups and manufacturing methods to improve production efficiency and reduce waste.
Ensure CNC programs and Bills of Materials (BOMs) are accurate before production commences.
Lead, support and mentor the programming team.
Allocate programming tasks to support project and production schedules.
Review complex and critical CNC programs for accuracy, efficiency and manufacturability.
Provide hands‐on technical support and troubleshoot manufacturing and programming issues on the factory floor.
Develop programming standards, work instructions and manufacturing best practices.
Drive continuous improvement across programming and production engineering.
Support the introduction, commissioning and integration of new manufacturing equipment.
About you
To succeed in this role, you'll ideally have:
A degree inMechanical Engineering, Industrial Design or a related technical field.
Significant production engineering experience,



ideally within asheet metal manufacturing environment.
Strong practical CAD/CAM programming experience.
Demonstrated CNC programming capability– you must be comfortable creating, reviewing, modifying and troubleshooting programs yourself.
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, engineering drawings and tolerances.
A good understanding ofDesign for Manufacture (DFM)principles.
The ability to work directly with customers, understand their design requirements and provide practical technical advice to improve manufacturability.
The ability to help develop designs from concept through to an efficient and reliable manufacturing solution.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
The ability to work effectively across design, programming, engineering and shop‐floor production teams.
Leadership or mentoring experience within a programming, engineering or production workplace is highly regarded.
