Expression of Interest - Senior Opencut Shotfirer & Senior Blast Technician
EPC Blastcon Australiais seeking an expression of interest for experienced Senior Shotfirers and Senior Blast Technicians to join our dynamic team in Townsville, Queensland.
This is a full-time opportunity to contribute to our growing operations, where yourexpertise in drill and blast will be essential.
Based inTownsville/ChartersTowers, North QLD, these roles are predominately DIDO, where rosters patterns will vary.
What you'll be doing
Supervise and coordinate the drill and blast process, ensuring safe and efficient operations
Prepare, design and execute blasting plans, using various software packages whilst working closely with the mining team
Oversee digitalisation technology & implementation across the region
Oversee design, QAQC & environmental parameters
Conduct Shotfirer operations to current industry best practises
Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and procedures
Maintain accurate records and provide detailed reporting on all drilling and blasting activities
Assist in the training and development of junior team members
Collaborate with the wider mining crew to optimise productivity and operational excellence
Conduct survey operations
What we're looking for
Proven experienceas a Senior Shotfirer/Senior BlastingTechnician/Surveyorin the mining industry
You will have aminimum of 10 years recent experiencein Quarry, Construction, Hard Rock (Gold) & Coal Mining
Surveying,



design experience and a drone pilot licence is essential.
Demonstrated experience with Emlid & DJI software & equipment is essential.
Strong understanding of drill and blast operations, including planning, execution and safety protocols
Excellent communication and strong leadership skills, with the ability to coordinate & work within a team environment
Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and a proactive approach to risk management
Demonstrated understanding of Blast Hole Drills & Blast Hole Drilling operations
Relevant industry qualifications, including a current unrestricted QLD Shotfirers License, QESC (Queensland Explosive Security Clearance) & a current manual Drivers Licence
Ability to complete & pass a full medical, including a D&A; screen
Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to work in a dynamic, rapid-paced environment
Excavator/Skid Steer/Front end Loader competencies would be highly advantageous
Must have electronic blasting experience & relevant certification
