About the role
We are seeking a talented and strategic Communications Lead to join the Royal Society of Victoria on a 0.8 FTE basis.
Based in Melbourne VIC ****, this role is pivotal in shaping how we communicate our mission, values, and initiatives to our diverse audiences.
As Communications Lead, you will develop and execute comprehensive communications strategies that elevate the Society's profile, engage our community, and support our strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities
Develop and implement integrated communications strategies across digital, print, and event channels to increase the Society's visibility and engagement
Create compelling content for multiple platforms including website, social media, newsletters, and promotional materials that reflect the Society's brand and values
Manage the Society's social media presence, including content creation, community engagement, ticket sales and performance analytics
Oversee the production and distribution of communications materials, ensuring consistency in messaging and brand guidelines
Coordinate communications for events, lectures, and public programmes to maximize attendance and impact
Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, stakeholders,



and partner organisations to enhance the Society's reach and reputation
Monitor communications effectiveness through analytics and feedback, providing recommendations for continuous improvement
Collaborate with internal teams and Council members to ensure all communications align with organisational objectives
Support fundraising and membership initiatives through targeted communications campaigns
What we're looking for
Proven experience in communications, marketing, or public relations, ideally within the not-for-profit, cultural, membership or educational sector
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to craft engaging content for varied audiences
Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms, including social media management and email marketing systems
Excellent project management abilities with the capacity to manage multiple communications initiatives simultaneously
Experience in strategic communications planning and the ability to align messaging with organisational goals
Knowledge of brand management and the ability to maintain consistent brand identity across all channels
Familiarity with analytics tools and the ability to interpret data to inform communications decisions
Solid interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders
Flexibility, innovation and a passion for science, culture, education, or the not-for-profit sector
Tertiary qualification in communications, marketing, journalism or a related field
