We are seeking a highly skilled Emergency Services Officer (ESO) to join our Health, Safety, Environment & Training (HSE&T;) team and play a critical role in protecting our people, assets, and operations.

About the Role
n
As an Emergency Services Officer, you will be a key frontline responder and safety leader across our Broken Hill operations. You'll ensure our emergency systems, personnel, and equipment are always prepared, while driving proactive safety initiatives that support a resilient and compliant workforce.
n
This role combines hands-on emergency response, training delivery, risk management, and cross-department collaboration.
n
What You'll Be Doing
n
n
Act as first responder to onsite emergencies, ensuring effective coordination and control.
n
Maintain and improve emergency response systems, protocols, and equipment.
n
Lead regular drills, simulations, and scenario testing.
n
Provide expert guidance during emergency situations to minimise risk and ensure safe outcomes.
n
n
Safety & Risk Management
n
n
Conduct hazard and risk assessments (3TCs, JSAs, etc.).
n
Monitor and promote compliance with WHS standards across site.
n




Identify emerging risks and implement mitigation strategies.
n
Mentor and support mine rescue team members.
n
Work closely with operational teams to align safety and emergency priorities.
n
Contribute to site-wide safety discussions and improvement initiatives.
n

Documentation & Reporting
n
n
Maintain accurate records of incidents, drills, audits, and safety interactions.
n
Prepare high-quality reports for internal and external stakeholders.
n
Use data insights to drive continuous improvement.
n
n
Training & Development
n
n
Deliver targeted emergency response training to employees and contractors.
n
Develop training materials in partnership with the Safety & Training team.
n
Evaluate and refine training programs to improve readiness and performance.
n
Review and update emergency response plans to reflect best practice.
n
Identify inefficiencies and implement cutting-edge solutions.
n
Oversee procurement, maintenance, and inventory of emergency equipment and facilities.

What You'll Bring
n
Required (or willingness to obtain)
n
n
Certificate III in Mine Emergency Response and Rescue.
n
Advanced (Industrial) First Aid Certificate including resuscitation.
n
SafeWork NSW Security Clearance.
n




General Site and Underground Induction.
n
Competent light vehicle operation in challenging environments: current Australian Drivers Licence required (MR or HR preferred).
n
Incident Investigation certification.
n
Experience as a Mine Rescue Team Member in mining or heavy industry.
n
Training in advanced emergency response techniques.
n
Exposure to operational safety management systems.
n
