About the role
The primary objective of the Production Editor role is responsible for taking draft Standards documents through the final stages of publication, ensuring they meet Standards Australia's editorial, quality and formatting requirements.
Alongside editing content for consistency, accuracy, grammar and style, then use publishing tools to prepare documents for release in XML, PDF and other digital formats.
The role involves working with various stakeholders such as Standards Development Project Managers and members of Standards Development committees were relevant.
What you'll do
It's a highly detail-oriented role that works closely with Project Managers, Technical Writers, Publishing Coordinators and Standards committees to maintain publication quality and meet deadlines. Beyond editing, you'll provide guidance and feedback to stakeholders, helping ensure documents are technically sound, professionally presented and ready for publication.
You will bring
Ideal candidates will have strong editing and proofreading skills, excellent attention to detail, experience working with structured content or publishing systems, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders.




Nice to have
University degree or other relevant qualification in publishing, journalism, English literature or an appropriate field
Minimum 3 years' experience in technical editing and/or writing
Excellent command of written and spoken English
Advanced in Microsoft Word features especially styles, templates and equations
Experienceworking in a publishing house with electronic publishing
Experienceusing content authoring and house style guides
Knowledge of publishing tools and technology such as eXtyles and XML
