Clinical Nurse (Offender Health Service)

Ready for a nursing role that takes you beyond the traditional healthcare setting? Join Capricornia Offender Health Service, where you'll provide care to people with complex and often significant health needs in a secure correctional setting.
n You'll work alongside a multidisciplinary team to manage changing health needs, support continuity of care and help people build healthier pathways from custody back into the community. This temporary opportunity runs until February ****, with the possibility of extension and negotiable hours.

About us:
n
Capricornia Offender Health Service (COHS) provides comprehensive healthcare to approximately 1,200 male prisoners across Capricornia Correctional Centre, Capricornia Correctional Farm and work camps. Working within a structured and secure environment, COHS delivers community-equivalent primary and emergency care while balancing the unique safety and security requirements of a correctional setting.
n
Our multidisciplinary team supports a wide range of health needs, including urgent care, chronic disease management, preventative health, health promotion, rehabilitation and ongoing treatment. Care is provided throughout a prisoner's journey, from entry into the correctional system through to transfer and release into the community, with a strong focus on addressing health inequalities, improving wellbeing and supporting better health outcomes for individuals and the wider community.

About the role:
n
n
Delivers safe, high-quality nursing care, including complex patient care, assessment, treatment and responding to changes in patient condition.
n
Leads and supports nursing teams, assists the NUM and CNC, and may act as shift coordinator or team leader,
including assuming professional leadership when senior nurses are unavailable.
n
Contributes to quality improvement, clinical audits, research, policy development and evidence-based practice to improve patient care and services.
n
Uses advanced clinical judgement, critical thinking and professional knowledge while working collaboratively across COHS and community services to promote safe, person-centred care.
n

About you:
n
n
Current AHPRA Registered Nurse registration, with a relevant postgraduate certificate or diploma, or a commitment to completing one within an agreed timeframe.
n
Demonstrates strong leadership, mentoring and preceptorship skills, with the confidence and integrity to support and guide nursing staff.
n
Can assess, plan, implement and evaluate complex patient care, using sound clinical judgement, problem-solving and coordination skills.
n
Builds effective relationships across multidisciplinary teams and confidently uses communication, consultation, negotiation and conflict-resolution skills.
n
n
What we offer:

Total monthly remuneration value of up to $11,661 p.m. is comprised of:
n

An hourly rate between $***** - $***** p.h.
