About This Opportunity
The Institute for Molecular Bioscience (IMB) is seeking an outstanding Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Molecular Immunology to join a visionary, collaborative and globally connected research environment.
Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will investigate host immune responses to malaria infection using human samples and advanced systems immunology approaches to define immune mechanisms that inform next-generation therapeutics and vaccine development.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-impact global health research while working alongside leading experts in a culture that values innovation, excellence, inclusivity and creating change together.
Key responsibilities will include:
Research: Conduct molecular immunology studies, including multi-parameter flow cytometry, proteomics, bulk and single-cell transcriptomics, and integrated multi-omics analyses to define immune responses to malaria infection and vaccination.
Research: Apply advanced computational biology, coding, and systems immunology approaches to integrate complex immune datasets and generate insights that support therapeutic and vaccine development.
Supervision and Researcher Development: Mentor PhD students and junior researchers, contribute to the supervision of Higher Degree by Research students, and foster a collaborative and high-performing research culture.
Citizenship and Service:



Contribute to collaborative research initiatives, competitive funding applications, service activities within IMB and UQ, and actively support a collegial and inclusive research environment.
About You
Completion of a PhD in Immunology and Vaccinology
Expertise in cellular immunity, including multi-parameter flow cytometry
Expertise in molecular immunology using human specimens, including controlled human infection models
Expertise in liver-stage immunity
Expertise in host-pathogen interactions
Expertise with human in vitro co-culture models, including CD8+ T-cell responses, is desirable
Expertise in omics and systems immunology
Proficiency in R or Python programming for data analysis, visualisation, and reproducible research workflows; experience with pipelines for multi-timepoint and multi-modal data integration
Demonstrated proficiency in carrying out high-quality research, and a proven record of professional achievement in the relevant discipline area
Strong team-oriented and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary research team.
Excellent organisational and project management skills, and the ability to work under tight deadlines




Track record of peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations
