VLA Productions
New South Wales
Job Description
$40–$55 per hour + super
n Full-time & part-time opportunities | Botany, Sydney
n
VLA Productions is looking for Audio, Lighting and Vision people to join our growing technical team in Sydney.
n
The work is a mix of concerts, festivals, venue shows, corporate events and other live productions, covering everything from warehouse prep and load-ins through to show calls and load-outs.
n
Whether you specialise in one department or work across a few, we'd like to hear from you.
n
These aren't entry-level roles, but you don't need decades in the industry either. If you've already built a solid foundation working on professional live shows and want to keep developing your technical experience, you could be a good fit.
n
Audio, Lighting & Vision Technicians
n
Audio
n
Our Audio work covers system prep and deployment, tuning and optimisation, FOH and monitors, patch, RF and system tech, depending on the job and your experience.
n
We run L-Acoustics, Nexo and Funktion-One, with consoles including DiGiCo, Allen & Heath and Avid.
n
We're interested in people with hands‐on professional live-audio experience. You don't need to have used every brand we own, but you should be comfortable working with professional systems in live‐event environments.
n
Lighting
n
Lighting work covers prep, rigging and deployment, networking and data, moving lights, system maintenance and fault finding, operation and programming.
n
We run grandMA along with fixtures from Robe, Clay Paky, Martin and Chauvet.
n
We're looking for people who understand professional live‐event lighting systems and can work confidently and safely as part of a production crew.
n
Vision
n
Vision covers LED walls, playback, media servers, live video switching,
signal distribution and other live‐video systems.
n
We use ROE LED products and Resolume, with opportunities across LED, playback, switching and other areas of live‐event video.
n
If your experience is strongest in one part of Vision rather than across everything, that's fine. We're interested in what you already know and where you'd like to develop.
n
Work across a few departments?
n
We'd like to hear from you too.
n
Good all-round production techs who can work confidently across different parts of a show are a valuable part of the team.
n
You don't need to know everything or be an expert in every discipline. A strong foundation in one area combined with useful experience across others can be a great fit.
n
Who we're after
n
We're looking for people who already know their way around a live show.
n
You'll need some hands‐on experience with professional live‐production equipment and enough time on live shows to be comfortable working on site, following production processes and contributing as part of a crew.
n
For Audio and Lighting positions, we're generally looking for around 1–2+ years of professional live‐production experience, although we'll consider your overall experience and capability rather than judging you purely on years in the industry.
n
For Vision and multi‐discipline roles, we're interested in people with a solid practical foundation and relevant live‐event experience.
n
Ideally,
you'll bring:
n
n
solid skills in at least one of Audio, Lighting or Vision
n
hands‐on experience with qualified live‐event equipment
n
a practical approach to fault finding and problem solving
n
good communication on site
n
the ability to work well as part of a crew
n
a professional and reliable approach when you're on a job
n
flexibility to work the hours that come with live events, including nights and weekends.
n
n
These are professional live‐event production roles, so we're looking for hands‐on live‐production experience rather than solely broadcast or studio‐based experience.
n
The deal
n
$40–$55 per hour + super, depending on experience.
n
We're recruiting for full‐time and part‐time positions based from our Botany warehouse.
n
The job includes warehouse prep and work at venues and event sites around Sydney and NSW.
n
There'll be nights and weekends — it's live production — and the exact mix will depend on the shows and projects you're working on.
n
You'll get to work across different productions, venues and systems, with opportunities to build your technical experience, undertake further training and take on more responsibility as you develop.
n
