Veterinary OphthalmologySpecialist/Registrar
Animal Eye Care, established in ****, is Australia's first stand‐alone specialist ophthalmology hospital and one of the country's most respected eye care practices.
Based in Malvern East with satellite clinics across Victoria, we provide advanced care for small animals, equine, and exotic patients, with all surgeries performed at our main hospital by a highly trained team.

As Australia's largest provider of continued education in veterinary ophthalmology, Animal Eye Care fosters a culture of teaching, mentorship, and research.
Specialists have the opportunity to work on a busy, diverse caseload, participate in internships and residency programs, and collaborate with the Centre of Veterinary Education.
Facilities & Equipment
On‐site slit lamp biomicroscopes, indirect ophthalmoscopes, and digital retinal imaging
Tonometry (TonoVet and Tono‐Pen) for intraocular pressure measurement
High‐frequency ultrasound for intraocular and orbital diagnostics
Electroretinography(ERG) to assess retinal function
In‐house lab for tear testing, cytology, and routine diagnostics
Fully equipped surgical suite for cataract, corneal, and eyelid procedures

Dr. Helen Mather, Specialist Ophthalmology – With 2 years of experience, Dr.
Mather specialises in preserving and restoring vision through advanced surgical and medical care.
About the Role
As a Veterinary Ophthalmologist, you will specialise in advanced diagnostics and microsurgery to preserve and restore vision for animal patients.
You will collaborate with a team of specialists, residents, interns, and experienced veterinary nurses.
The role is best suited for a recently boarded or experienced specialist, offering the opportunity to contribute to teaching and mentorship while enjoying flexible work arrangements and the lifestyle benefits of living in Australia.

Requirements
Board‐certified diplomate of ACVO or ECVO or fellowship of the ANZCVS in Veterinary Ophthalmology.
Residency‐trained candidates also considered.
Recognised and/or accredited undergraduate degree by the Australasian Veterinary Boards Council (AVBC).
Limited registration candidates also considered.
If required, passing the National Veterinary Examination (NAVLE).
