The role requires the successful applicant to maintain Wickham Freight Lines' fleet to a high standard, while working within a team environment. Regular repairs, maintenance, modifications and services are to be carried out using workshop facilities at a satisfactory level of service in a timely and effective manner.
Key Responsibilities
Tasks includes:
Maintain, tests, service and repairs trucks and their mechanical parts including brakes, steering, transmissions and suspensions
Detecting, diagnosing and repairing faults in truck engines and parts
Repairing and replacing worn and defective parts and referring to service manuals as needed
Performing scheduled maintenance services, such as oil changes, lubrications and engine tune-ups, to achieve smoother running of vehicles
Service and repair braking systems
Diagnose and repair heavy diesel vehicle shafts
Testing and adjusting mechanical parts after being repaired for proper performance
Diagnosing and testing parts
Complete all required documentation relating to NHVAS procedures in a timely and accurate manner
Other relevant tasks as required
Skill & Experience
Skills and experience
Three years plus experience as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic or in a similar role.
Ability to carry out mechanical tasks with minimal supervision.
Proven ability to meet deadlines and to make independent decisions.
Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to work within a team setting.
Possess a driver's licence. HR or HC desirable.
