Due to continued growth and success, an exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced and driven
General Manager
to join their leadership team.
As the General Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future success of the business. Taking ownership of the overall leadership, management and performance of the organisation, you will be responsible for delivering strong financial, commercial, operational, people, customer and compliance outcomes.
As General Manager, you will take ownership of the day-to-day leadership, management and performance of the business, delivering strong financial, commercial, operational, people, customer and compliance outcomes. This is a hands-on leadership position where you will improve profitability, strengthen operational delivery, drive sales performance, build a high-performing team and ensure the business is positioned for sustainable growth.
For an experienced Branch or Operations Manager ready for their next step, this role offers the chance to take ownership across an entire organisation - including finance, operations, sales, people, systems and business performance.
Working closely with the Managing Director, you will translate strategy into execution, set priorities, drive accountability and ensure the business performs consistently week to week. You will have genuine autonomy to lead the day-to-day business within agreed parameters and bring recommendations on emerging risks, opportunities and strategic matters.
The role:




Protect and strengthen customer experience, brandreputation, reviews, referrals and repeat business.
Own sales performance and pipeline outcomes to achieve revenue, gross profit, net profit and sustainable growth.
Manage operational performance across scheduling, procurement, warehouse and fielddelivery using KPIs, job debriefs, operational registers and regular review rhythms.
Ensure all jobs progress efficiently through planning, scheduling, installation and closeout,with bottlenecks identified and resolved early
Build and execute annual business plans, sales objectives and operating budgets
Lead and hold department leaders accountable through clear expectations, KPIs, coaching and timely management of underperformance.
Maintain control and visibility of major projects so scope, timelines, resources, risks andprofitability are tracked, escalated and actioned by the responsible roles.
Use budgets, forecasts, workload and labour capacity to anticipate risks, resourcingneeds and investment requirements before they impact business performance
Track committed work, work in progress and unbilled revenue to maintain visibility overfuture revenue, cashflow and delivery capacity.
Protect approved revenue, gross profit, net profit and cashflow targets bycontrolling margin, labour and material costs, cashflow timing and financial risk through theresponsible roles
Look beyond current results to understand what is coming over the next 1-3 months and act early on emerging gaps in revenue, capacity, profitability or resources.
Use operational trends to improve SOPs, workflows, training and accountability tostrengthen delivery performance.
Communicate operational priorities, performance trends and required improvements tothe field team so trades understand expectations and deliver work safely, efficiently andto standard.
Protect the business by ensuring WHS, compliance, licensing, funding, renewals and risk management obligations are controlled, assigned and completed withinrequired timeframes.
Provide the Managing Director with clear visibility of business performance, priorities and risks,



bringing recommended solutions rather than simply escalating problems.
What we're looking for:
Significant experience in a General Manager, Operations Manager, Branch Manager or comparable senior leadership role. We are open to a high-performing operational leader ready to step into their first GM position.
Strong commercial acumen and meaningful exposure to P&L; and financial performance, including revenue, margin, profitability, labour/material costs and cashflow.
Experience in a trade, construction, electrical or service based business
Demonstrated P&L; ownership, financial performance and margin managementcapability
Demonstrated ability to lead office and field teams, build high performance and driveaccountability
Strong business systems and reporting capability, with the ability to use data to improve performance and decision-making
Ability to connect sales pipeline, operational capacity, financial performance and future business requirements.
Forward-thinking, commercially focused and comfortable planning beyond the immediate week.
Comfortable working closely with an entrepreneurial Managing Director, challenging constructively and turning ideas and priorities into disciplined execution
Adaptable, resilient and effective under pressure
Clear and confident communication across office, field, sales and leadership teams
Hands-on, decisive leadership with strong accountability
Strong commercial judgement and financial awareness
Skilled in negotiation, problem solving and managing competing priorities
Current Australian Driver Licence
Desirable:
Business management, leadership or project management qualification
Electrical, renewable energy or trade background
Experience using job management, CRM, quoting, reporting or workflow automationsystems
Experience working with outsourced providers such as marketing, IT, virtualassistants or after-sales partners
Knowledge of WHS, compliance, SOPs and continuous improvement in a trade basedenvironment
