Overview

Yabby Dam Farms located in Cardigan VIC is seeking a highly motivated and adaptive individual to join our team as a full-time Horse Trainer/Breeding.
n
Responsibilities
n
n
Overseeing daily care and supervision of horses
n
Training and preparing young stock and mares for sale
n
Educating yearlings including teaching them to walk, stand and parade
n
Monitoring mare ovulation and pregnancy
n
Foaling mares and early education of foals
n
Assisting Veterinarians with
ultrasound/reproduction
examination including assisting in birthing foals and administering medical treatment to foals
n
n
The salary will be above award – in the range of $75,000 to $85,000 per annum depending upon the skill set and level of responsibility.
n
Essential Criteria
n
n
A Certificate III or equivalent international qualification, or in the absence of a qualification a minimum of three years qualified experience educating and training horses
n




A minimum of two years' experience handling and working with and educating thoroughbred horses
n
Knowledge and experience of horse training and handling methods specific to thoroughbreds, including mares and yearlings
n
Proven ability to train and educate young horses
n
The suitable applicant will require evidence of managing a small team during the season
n
Oral and written communication skills are sufficient to provide information and advice to others and prepare reports
n
Knowledge of safe operation of all equipment and use of personal protective equipment
n
Sound knowledge of health and safety obligations and demonstrated skills in safe operation of equipment relevant to the training and preparation of horses
n
