I've been asked by my client, a well-established mechanical contractor in Melbourne to source an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing engineering and project delivery team.
This is an opportunity for a technically strong design engineer who enjoys working on complex building services projects and wants to be involved from concept and design development through to construction and project delivery.
You'll work closely with project managers, engineers, consultants, subcontractors and clients to deliver practical, buildable mechanical solutions across a diverse range of projects.
You will be responsible for:
Leading the mechanical design of commercial, industrial and/or large-scale building services projectsDeveloping detailed mechanical designs, layouts, calculations and documentationProducing and reviewing drawings using AutoCAD and/or RevitUndertaking HVAC load calculations, equipment selection and system designReviewing consultant designs and identifying opportunities for optimisationWorking closely with project and construction teams to ensure designs are practical and buildableProviding technical support throughout construction and resolving design issues as they ariseCoordinating mechanical designs with architectural, electrical, structural and other disciplinesParticipating in design reviews,
client meetings and project coordinationMentoring junior engineers and designersEnsuring designs meet relevant Australian Standards, codes and project requirements
You'll ideally have:
A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline5+ years' experience in mechanical/building services designStrong HVAC and mechanical services design experienceExperience working for a mechanical contractor, engineering consultancy or similar environmentStrong knowledge of Australian Standards and relevant building codesProficiency with RevitExcellent understanding of mechanical services coordinationThe ability to take ownership of designs and work autonomouslyStrong communication and stakeholder management skillsA practical, solutions-focused approach to engineering
This is more than a pure design role.
