The role will act as the primary liaison between the business, employees, People Partner, Finance, and the payroll vendor, ensuring payroll operations comply with Australian legislative requirements and company policies.
The incumbent is expected to support the payroll activities across multiple countries within the APAC region as required.Key responsibilitiesPayroll Vendor ManagementServe as the primary point of contact for the outsourced payroll provider.Manage the payroll processing calendar and ensure all payroll deadlines are met.Review payroll outputs and reports for accuracy before payroll approval.Monitor vendor service levels and address any payroll processing issues.Payroll Administration & ValidationReview and validate payroll inputs, including:New hiresEmployee terminationsSalary changesBonuses and commissionsLeave transactionsSuperannuation adjustmentsWorkers' compensationLead management of out of cycle payments between business and payroll vendor to ensure compliance – such as termination paymentsReview and validate payroll reports provided by the payroll vendor, performing reconciliations and variance analysis to ensure payroll calculations, deductions, statutory contributions, and reporting are accurate prior to payroll approval and finalization.Ensure all statutory filings, returns, and regulatory reporting are completed accurately and submitted within required deadlines.Ensure payroll data integrity and accuracy.Support month‐end and year‐end payroll activities.Compliance & Regulatory OversightEnsure compliance with Australian payroll legislation and regulations, including:Fair Work Act requirementsModern AwardsSingle Touch Payroll (STP)
reportingSuperannuation Guarantee obligationsPayroll tax requirements across relevant statesLeave entitlements and statutory paymentsMonitor legislative changes and work with the payroll vendor to implement updates.Support internal and external payroll audits.Complete WGEA and regular reporting in partnership with People Partner team.Complete Better Of Overall Testing for employees covered by Modern Awards.Complete payroll salary benchmarking for Award‐based employees post Fairwork Commission Award Increase after each FWC increase (generally annually).
Act as representative to AVEVA Gov Accounts for Department of Human Services / ATO for the purposes of items such as Paid Parental Leave, Garnishee Orders, etc.Ensure payroll, time, attendance and employee records reporting and audit requirements in accordance with Fairwork Act ****.Payroll Tax & ReportingCoordinate payroll tax calculations, reconciliations, and annual returns.Review payroll tax obligations across different Australian states and territories.Ensure accurate reporting of taxable wages and exemptions.Support statutory reporting and compliance submissions.Ensure completion of EOFY processes for Pacific region.Employee SupportAct as the first point of contact for payroll‐related employee inquiries.Resolve payroll issues and escalations in a timely manner.Provide guidance on payslips, taxation, superannuation, leave entitlements, and payroll‐related policies.Stakeholder ManagementPartner closely with HR, Finance, and business leaders to ensure payroll requirements are met.Support workforce changes, acquisitions, restructures, and organisational initiatives impacting payroll.Provide payroll reporting and insights to management as required.Continuous ImprovementManage risk register for Pacific and document business/payroll processes for SoX Compliance and Audit requirements.Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls, and efficiency.Maintain payroll procedures and documentation.Implement best practices and strengthen payroll governance.Essential requirements5 - 10 years of Australian payroll experienceMust be flexible and willing to support payroll activities across other countries within the APAC regionStrong understanding of:Australian payroll legislationIndustrial relations (Fairwork Act,
