ResponsibilitiesProcess and maintain Trust Accounting transactions and records in accordance with regulatory requirementsMaintain electronic and hard-copy trust accounting recordsReview, prepare and post journals, adjustments, and month-end closing entriesPerform bank reconciliations across multiple accounts and investigate discrepanciesManage and process Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable transactionsMonitor cash flow and maintain accurate financial recordsSupport debt collection, follow-up, and recovery processesProcess client payments and assist with treasury managementPrepare, process, and reconcile weekly payroll through XeroManage employee reimbursements, leave entitlements, superannuation, and payroll adjustmentsEnsure payroll compliance obligations are met accurately and on timeAssist with revenue and expense budgets and forecastingPrepare internal financial and management reportsAssist with BAS, PAYG, FBT, Payroll Tax, and annual statutory reportingMaintain and support accounting functions within Legal Practice Management and CRM systemsPrepare legal practice performance reporting for Partners and LawyersSupport development and enhancement of business reporting capabilitiesPrepare monthly reporting packs and performance analysisWork closely with the leadership team across trust accounting, payroll, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, treasury management, and legal practice performance reportingRequirementsRelevant accounting experience, ideally within a qualified services environmentStrong understanding of financial accounting principles, reconciliations, reporting, and month-end processesExperience managing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll, and general ledger activitiesExperience using Xero, MYOB,
or similar accounting platformsAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the broader Microsoft Office suiteStrong attention to detail and commitment to accurate workExcellent written and verbal communication skillsBachelor's degree in Commerce, Business, Accounting, or a related discipline is listed as a differentiator, not a required qualificationCA or CPA qualification is listed as a differentiator, not a required qualificationHigh numeracy and analytical capabilityExperience or genuine interest in the legal sectorAbility to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive financial informationStrong organisational skills and ability to manage competing prioritiesProactive approach and willingness to take ownership of outcomesCollaborative mindset and ability to build internal stakeholder relationshipsReferences and evidence of right to work in Australia required during the interview processCore CompetenciesDemonstrates expertise in Trust Accounting, including managing Accounts Payable and Receivable, payroll processing through Xero, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
