Introduction: MBM is currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Building Consultant to join our team at the Sydney office.
This role is pivotal in supporting our team with the delivery of comprehensive property consultancy services, contributing to our continued growth and success.

Purpose of Position
At Senior Building Consultant level your role will include but not be limited to:
Assisting in the undertaking of client engagementsEnsuring that all work is carried out efficiently and diligentlyMaking sure that MBM's work is carried out in accordance with our Quality Assurance requirementsRepresenting and promoting MBM in the marketMentoring and reviewing the work of junior Building Consultants and Assistants
Key Responsibilities
Technical Requirements:
With minimal supervision, exercising increasing independent judgement:
Core Building Consultancy works including:
Make Good Assessments and negotiations, both Tenant and Landlord (office and industrial);Transition Services incorporating new build developments through to handover (industrial);Life Cycle Analysis and forecasting (commercial assets);Capital Works Funds (aged care assets, health and prisons);Ingoing Schedules of Condition (office and industrial);Technical Due Diligence at acquisition and disposal (commercial assets);Development PC and End of DLP reporting and SBBIS Building Inspector roles;Expert Witness Defect Analysis, Costs to Complete and reporting;
City of Sydney Asset Compliance Contract activities




Daily consultancy and project management of engagements ranging from $1,500-$500,000+;Building and maintaining Client relationships through various sectors of the City of Sydney including Facilities Management, Development and Strategy, Project Delivery, Public Art;Tender, negotiate and prepare consultancy bids for works including building services, structure/façade/roofs, vertical transport, environmental and HAZMAT surveys; land surveying, heights safety, BCA compliance and the like;Manage sub-contractor reporting and QA together with invoicing and financial tracking and analysis.
Associated duties but not limited to
Development of new and maintenance of existing clients including in-house relationships;Work with Advisory, Tax and QS Departments to achieve fulfilment of joint engagements;NSW, interstate, national and international travel where required.
Meetings
Attend all meetings with Client and/or project team and MBM Directors and staff as required.

Skills and Experiences
Key Requirements
Experience & Education: 4+ years of relevant industry experience backed by a tertiary qualification in a related field (MRICS membership is highly regarded, though not strictly required).
Technical Proficiency: Extensive trade or site experience combined with a strong working knowledge of building regulations, codes, and standards.Problem-Solving & Passion:



A genuine drive to investigate, identify, and resolve complex site issues by distilling them into clear, actionable solutions.Communication & Reporting: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to produce high-quality technical reports using Microsoft Word and Excel.Professional Attributes: A well-presented, energetic, and polite professional with a methodical approach to time management.Work Eligibility: Applicants must have valid work rights in the country.Compliance: A current, valid driver's licence.
