Working within ANSTO Synroc, you will investigate the long-term performance of materials used to safely immobilise radioactive waste, combining laboratory experimentation, materials science, and scientific problem solving to support nationally and internationally significant programs.About You"This role offers the opportunity to apply strong scientific skills to a unique and highly specialised field. We're looking for someone who is passionate about understanding how materials behave over time and who wants to grow into a technical leader in wasteform durability." – Dan Gregg, Manager Wasteforms Engineering, ANSTO SynrocYour Duties and ResponsibilitiesKey Accountabilities- Band 5Undertake wasteform durability analysis according to standard test methods and non-routine test protocols on both non-radioactive and radioactive materials, including reporting and authorising release of test results.Commission, operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain complex laboratory instrumentationContribute to research and development activities by working as part of a team to complete experimental work on time, and within the required scope and budgetIndependently manage multiple tasks,
prioritise work and effectively plan experiments so that deadlines are metDevelop and review work instructions and safety documentation for laboratory activities.ANSTO leverages great science to deliver big outcomes.
