We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of highly complex, large-scale warehouse automation and material handling system (MHS) projects.
Based in Sydney/Melbourne/Brisbane, you will play a key role in delivering strategically critical projects for major clients across NSW, VIC, and QLD.
Operating in a fast-paced, technically sophisticated environment, you will manage multiple projects simultaneously, working with advanced automation technologies and cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional outcomes for our customers.
This is a hands-on,
delivery-focused role where you will take full ownership of the project lifecycle, from contract award through to commissioning, customer acceptance, and final handover.What you will be working onFull ownership of the project delivery phase, from contract review through to final handoverReviewing contracts to define scope, milestones, and key deliverablesLeading development and management of integrated project schedules (critical path focus)Bringing together internal and external stakeholders to align on scope of works and execution strategyManaging project budgets, cost forecasting, and financial performanceIdentifying and managing unallocated costs, variations, and commercial risksDriving procurement, supplier commitments, and project supply chain performanceOverseeing subcontractor engagement, performance, and sign-off for invoicingLeading risk management, change management, and issue resolutionManaging project challenges including delays, scope changes, and extensions of timeSupporting FAT, SAT, commissioning, and customer acceptance testingActing as the key client-facing lead, ensuring expectations are managed and metTasks and QualificationsSetting you up for success.Degree in Engineering, Project Management, or related disciplineProven experience delivering large-scale, complex engineering, automation, or MHS projectsBackground in MHS, warehouse automation, FMCG, high-speed packaging, or integrated engineering environmentsStrong understanding of system layouts, design intent,
and integration complexityDemonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in fast-paced environmentsSolid commercial acumen across contracts, budgets, variations, and cost controlProficiency with project planning tools (MS Project or similar PM software)Ability to interpret AutoCAD layouts and system designsStrong reporting, communication, and stakeholder presentation skillsWillingness to travel to customer sites locally and interstateWhat sets you apartCalm, resilient, and able to lead through complexity and changeDecisive and proactive, with a strong forward-planning mindsetSkilled negotiator with the ability to influence commercial outcomesStrong stakeholder engagement across multidisciplinary teams and clientsA hands-on leader who can "weather the storm" and deliver resultsWhy bring your career to DematicWe are proud to design, build, implement, and support automated system solutions for warehouses, distribution centres, and production facilities.
