The CompanySharp & Carter is partnering with a well-established, national manufacturer and wholesaler of building and construction products to recruit an experienced Senior Accountant.
Our client operates across multiple states with a strong market position in its category, and offers genuine scale, structure and career development within a busy finance function.The RoleReporting to the Finance Director, this is a hands-on Senior Accountant role with primary responsibility for financial accounting integrity across the business, including month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, inventory accounting and audit preparation.
It's a great opportunity for a technically strong accountant to step into a senior, commercially focused position with genuine breadth and visibility.Key responsibilities include:Taking ownership of the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger, including preparation and review of journals, accruals and balance sheet reconciliationsCoordinating the month-end close process, including preparation and review of management accounts and detailed P&L; and balance sheet analysisMaintaining oversight of inventory accounting and stock adjustmentsManaging the fixed asset register, including additions, disposals, depreciation and capital expenditure reportingOverseeing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable reconciliations and supporting working capital reportingReviewing bank reconciliations, cash flow reporting and foreign currency transactionsCoordinating BAS/GST preparation,
FBT and payroll tax reconciliations and other statutory compliance requirementsReviewing payroll accounting and employee entitlement provisionsActing as a key Finance contact for external audit and coordinating year-end reconciliations and workpapersIdentifying and driving process improvement, automation and systems initiatives across the Finance functionReviewing the work of, and providing guidance and development to, an Assistant Accountant and other Finance team membersAbout YouTertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related disciplineCPA or CA qualified, or progressingDemonstrated experience in a Senior Accountant, Financial Accountant or Management Accountant roleStrong experience with month-end accounting, general ledger management and balance sheet reconciliationsExperience within wholesale distribution, importing, manufacturing or another inventory-intensive business highly regardedSolid understanding of inventory and cost accounting, fixed assets, GST/BAS and payroll accountingAdvanced Excel skills and robust ERP/financial systems capabilityExperience preparing audit workpapers and liaising with external auditorsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the confidence to investigate and challenge unusual transactionsPrior experience reviewing or supervising junior accounting staff advantageousExcellent communication skills, with the ability to translate financial information for non-Finance stakeholdersWhat's on OfferCompetitive salary package reflective of experienceA genuinely broad, senior finance role with strong exposure to the Finance Director and Executive teamCareer development within a large, stable and growing organisationThe opportunity to make a real impact on process improvement and systems within a busy finance functionAdditional informationGenuine scale and breadth - national manufacturer, direct Executive exposureOwn the numbers - full financial accounting integrity, not just month-endReal career runway in a stable, expanding business
