IV Nurse
to join our healthcare team in
Caulfield, VIC
. This is a
part-time position
that offers flexibility whilst providing essential patient care. As an IV Nurse, you will play a vital role in our clinical operations, specialising in intravenous therapy administration and patient management. This position is strategically key to our service delivery, ensuring patients receive high-quality, safe and compassionate intravenous care in a professional medical environment.
Key responsibilities
Inserting, maintaining and managing peripheral and central intravenous catheters in accordance with clinical guidelines and best practice standards
Administering intravenous medications, fluids and blood products safely and accurately whilst monitoring patient responses
Assessing patient veins and selecting appropriate IV sites, adapting technique based on individual patient needs
Monitoring patients for complications related to intravenous therapy, such as infiltration, phlebitis and infection, and taking appropriate corrective action
Maintaining detailed and accurate documentation of all intravenous procedures, medications administered and patient observations
Collaborating with medical practitioners and the wider healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes
Educating patients regarding their intravenous therapy, including care instructions and potential side effects
Ensuring infection control practices and maintaining a sterile environment during all IV procedures
Providing compassionate patient care whilst maintaining professional boundaries and respecting patient dignity
What we're looking for
Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) as a Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse
Demonstrated experience in intravenous therapy administration and peripheral or central line management
Knowledge of pharmacology relevant to intravenous medication administration and understanding of drug interactions
Strong assessment and clinical decision-making skills with the ability to identify complications early
Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
Ability to work autonomously whilst maintaining high standards of patient care and safety
Commitment to continuing professional development and maintaining clinical competency
Current First Aid and CPR certification
Immunisation requirements as per Australian healthcare standards (including COVID-19 vaccination)
Desirable: experience in acute care settings, oncology, or infusion centres
