We areseeking an experienced and passionate part‐time Senior Editor to join our Hardie GrantPublishing team to be a part of the Hardie Grant First Nations EditorialProgram.About the role:This is an identified position and is open only toAboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander People.
Hardie Grant recognises theimportance of increasing First Nations representation in publishing and iscommitted to supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices within ourorganisation.This role is a part of the First Nations Editorial Program,delivered in partnership with Writing Australia and is a 3-day per week, permanent (ongoing) role.
While we ideally envisage this role being based in one of our Hardie Grant offices (Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane), we encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates across Australia and are happy to discuss flexible arrangements with the right candidate.The Senior Editor will work closely with publishing teamsacross Hardie Grant Publishing Adult and Children's divisions, including HardieGrant Books, Hardie Grant Explore, Ultimo Press and Hardie Grant Children'sPublishing.
You will edit and project manage a variety of titles across alllists, overseeing projects from manuscript stage through to press, includingscheduling, structural editing,



copyediting and proofreading.This role is responsible for managingandoverseeingthe First Nations Publishing Prize fromjudgingthroughto editorial support of authors to elevate their manuscripts topublishable quality.
The role has one directreport, theEditorial Trainee, as a part of the First Nations Editorial Program.This role is ideal for someone who has exceptional editorialexpertise, a passion for storytelling, is highly organised and detail-focused,and is committed to author care.Key responsibilities:Project managementProjectmanageassignedtitlesfromdevelopedmanuscript to files at pressManage production and design processes toensuretimelydelivery of material as defined by critical pathUse Firebrand and other relevant contentmanagement systems tomaintainand oversee metadata processes andimplementationEnsure our books arecommerciallyviable,ensuring title costings adhere to theirorigination costings andmarginsEstablish and caretake the vision and creativepositioning of our books in collaboration with the publisherDevelop illustration and design briefs inconsultation with the design team and publisherWork closely withauthors andillustratorsto finesse and perfect theirwork,



bearing in mind theirstrengths and weaknessesFirst Nations Publishing PrizeOversee the creation and running of the prizeWork closely with the Editorial Trainee toprovide editorial support, including developmental and structural editing, totwo prize winnersThis is an exciting opportunity to join our energetic andinnovative team in a permanent, part‐time position.
