Seeing Machines works with many of the world's leading brands (including General Motors, Mercedes Benz, Qantas, Caterpillar, Toll) across the transport sectors automotive, commercial road transport (Fleet), and aviation.Position Summary:The Senior Financial Accountant is responsible for execution and delivery of financial close, technical accounting and tax compliance across the Group.The role acts as the accounting backbone of the Finance function, owning the integrity of financial results and supporting statutory, audit and regulatory requirements.With the transition away from a standalone tax function, this role also takes on tax compliance execution, supported by external advisors and oversight from the Financial Controller.This role owns execution and quality of accounting outputs, including reconciliations and tax compliance, with review typically performed at a high-level control and exception basis by the Financial Controller.Key Responsibilities of the roleThe duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:Financial Close & Accounting ExecutionOwn month-end close execution, including:journals,
accruals and adjustmentsbalance sheet reconciliationsEnsure accuracy and integrity of financial dataMaintain quality and timeliness of close processesBalance Sheet & Financial ControlOwn preparation and quality of balance sheet reconciliationsInvestigate and resolve reconciling itemsEnsure completeness and consistency across entitiesHighlight risks, unusual balances and issuesStatutory Reporting & Audit SupportSupport preparation of statutory accounts across entitiesAct as key contact for audit deliverablesProvide supporting analysis and documentationEnsure audit queries are addressed efficientlyRevenue & Technical AccountingApply IFRS 15 and other accounting standardsSupport contract accounting and revenue recognitionAssess complex or non-routine transactionsProvide technical input as requiredTax Compliance & SupportOwn preparation and execution of tax compliance activities across the Group, including corporate tax, indirect tax and regulatory filingsSupport the Financial Controller in coordinating with external tax advisors, including preparing required information and responding to queriesEnsure completeness,
accuracy and timeliness of all tax submissionsMaintain supporting documentation for audit and compliance purposesProcess Improvement & SupportSupport improvements across close and accounting processesContribute to documentation and SOP developmentIdentify opportunities to improve efficiency and qualityStakeholder ManagementWork with Finance Operations Lead to ensure alignment between accounting and working capitalLiaise with external advisors (audit, tax)Escalate complex issues to Financial ControllerKnowledge, Skills and ExperienceEducation / QualificationsBachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related disciplineCA / CPA qualified (or equivalent)Professional ExperienceExperience in financial accounting, audit, or similar roleStrong experience in:month-end close processesbalance sheet reconciliations and financial controlExperience supporting:statutory reportingexternal audit processesExperience working with or coordinating tax compliance activities (corporate and indirect tax exposure desirable)Experience in a multi-entity or international environment (desirable given your group structure)Knowledge & Technical SkillsStrong understanding of:financial reporting and accounting standards (IFRS / AASB)reconciliation processes and financial controlsAbility to:investigate variances and resolve issuesidentify risks and elevate appropriatelyExposure to:tax compliance processes (corporate / VAT / GST)revenue recognition (IFRS 15 desirable)Solid Excel and ERP system capabilityPersonal Attributes & BehavioursStrong attention to detail and accountability for output qualityOwnership mindset — takes responsibility for end-to-end deliveryAbility to manage multiple priorities across close, tax and reportingPragmatic and solution-orientedComfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environmentGood stakeholder communication (including working with advisors and internal teams)
