Senior Technical Officer - Natural Areas Operational ContractsJoin our Assets team in this newly created position, providing contract administration services for Natural Areas and Parks maintenance contracts.
You'll play a key role in ensuring contractors meet service standards, specifications and compliance requirements while supporting the effective delivery of maintenance services across the region.This role is responsible for preparing and managing contract documentation, implementing audit and inspection programs, and facilitating regular performance reporting and contractor meetings to support continuous improvement and achieve the best outcomes for Council.Key responsibilities include:administering the full lifecycle of Natural Areas and Parks maintenance contracts, including contract preparation, execution, variations and compliance monitoringdeveloping, reviewing and maintaining contract documentation to ensure explicit scopes, performance requirements and alignment with Council policies, standards and legislative obligationsundertaking site audits and inspections of contractor-delivered works to assess compliance with specifications, standards and service levelsplanning, coordinating and delivering cyclical audit and inspection programs to identify risks, non-conformances and improvement opportunitiesmonitoring contractor performance against KPI's and service standards, ensuring corrective actions are implemented where requiredpreparing performance reports, compliance reports and audit findings, while maintaining accurate records in Council systemsleading and facilitating progress meetings with contractors, including agenda setting, reviewing performance metrics, addressing issues and agreeing on improvement actionsproviding contract administration support and advice to the Team Leader,



ensuring consistent application of processes and governance frameworksbuilding and maintaining effective working relationships with contractors and internal stakeholders to support service delivery and continuous improvement outcomesPlease note, this position is internally titled "Senior Technical Officer Assets"About youIdeally you will have experience in a similar role administering operational maintenance contracts, preferably within Natural Areas environments.You'll bring:demonstrated experience in contract administration, including contract preparation, interpretation and compliance managementstrong knowledge of contract management principles, including performance monitoring, variations and governance requirementsexperience managing service based contracts, preferably within natural areas, parks or grounds maintenance environmentssound understanding of contractor supervision practices, including site inspections, audits and quality assurance activities against specifications and service standardsproven ability to plan and deliver audit and inspection programs, identify non conformances and support corrective actionsstrong reporting skills, including the preparation of audit findings, performance reports and monthly contract summariesexperience coordinating and facilitating contractor meetings and performance reviewsan understanding of relevant Queensland legislation and standards applicable to contract delivery, including environmental and work health and safety requirementsthe ability to interpret technical documents, specifications and service schedules related to natural areas and parks maintenanceexperience maintaining records and using contract management, asset management or similar corporate systemsstrong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build productive working relationshipsCertificate IV or Diploma in a relevant field such as Conservation and Eco System Management, Horticulture or Project ManagementSee the position description attached below for further information about this role.
