Working with both public and private sector clients, the team focuses on connecting people, policy and place to achieve practical, well-considered outcomes in the built environment.The Role The Senior Planning Consultant will work closely with junior staff across a broad mix of projects, from early strategic advice through to complex development approvals.
The role offers genuine responsibility, hands-on experience, and exposure to multiple planning frameworks.Consultancy & Technical PlanningProviding urban planning advice across a range of sectors and project types within the NSW planning systemPreparing and reviewing high-quality planning documentation,
including:Stakeholder EngagementStatements of Environmental EffectsPlanning proposals and rezoningEnvironmental Impact StatementsClause 4.6 variation requestsComplying development adviceDesign competition reportsReviews of Environmental Factors and legal briefsEnsuring accuracy, clarity and professional presentation across all deliverablesProject & Stakeholder SupportSupporting senior planners and directors in client and government stakeholder interactionsAssisting with project tracking, coordination and deadline managementExposure to project management and due diligence processesBusiness Development & Professional GrowthAssisting with the preparation of fee proposals and tender submissionsSupporting client relationship management through the delivery of a high standard of serviceOpportunity to gain structured exposure to business development and consultancy operationsMentoring-focused and supportive of all staffHighly collaborative across projectsSocial, engaged and invested in robust team connectionsTraining specific to mentoring juniors and stakeholder engagementStaff are encouraged to be involved in the broader business, with structured guidance and training rather than a "sink or swim" approach.The Ideal Candidate3-5 years' experience in urban or town planning (consultancy or local government)A relevant tertiary qualification in Urban & Regional Planning or a related disciplineA working knowledge of NSW planning legislation and approval pathwaysStrong written and verbal communication skillsThe ability to manage multiple projects in a consultancy environmentAn interest in professional development and expanding technical capability
