This is an prospect to take ownership of complex risks, strengthen broker partnerships at a senior level, and contribute to the strategic direction of a growing portfolio.Working as part of a collaborative team, you will underwrite General Liability at a Senior level.In this role, you will develop long-term, sustainable broker relationships through established networks and an allocated broker portfolio, working closely with the State Manager QLD.
You will contribute to the profitable growth and strategic development of the QLD/NT portfolio while supporting broader business objectives.Key ResponsibilitiesLead underwriting of General Liability products within delegated authorityProvide technical guidance, mentorship, and support to Underwriters within the QLD teamDevelop and maintain strong, senior-level broker relationships to support profitable portfolio growthDeliver excellent service standards, ensuring high-quality underwriting decisions and timely responsesEvaluate, negotiate, and approve complex insurance quotationsIdentify opportunities to improve efficiency, effectiveness,



and portfolio profitabilityRepresent the organisation at industry events and relevant professional organisationsCollaborate with the State Manager in business planning, forecasting, budgeting, and strategic decision-makingOversee adherence to underwriting governance, compliance standards, and risk appetiteAbout YouThe Candidate - Skills, Qualifications & ExperienceYou are a highly experienced underwriting professional with strong technical capability and a commercial mindset.
You are confident managing complex risks, influencing outcomes, and building trusted relationships at a senior level.You bring a proactive approach to portfolio management, coupled with the ability to mentor others and contribute to broader business strategy.EssentialMinimum 7+ years insurance industry experience in underwriting and/or brokingStrong technical underwriting capability across General LiabilitySolid working knowledge of Financial Lines productsProven ability to negotiate and approve complex insurance quotationsStrong broker relationship management and marketing skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsHigh level of numeracy and analytical capabilityProficiency in Excel, Lotus Notes, and standard business software programsDemonstrated leadership capability, interpersonal savvy, and ability to mentor othersStrong decision-making capability with a balanced approach to riskDesiredDiploma or Degree in Business, Insurance, or a related fieldFamiliarity with Medical Malpractice and ICT liability productsExperience managing or supporting a regional underwriting portfolio
