They're looking for a Senior Consultant - Data Engineering to take technical ownership of their data practice — from pipeline design to pre-sales pursuits.
Based in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, this is a permanent, full-time opportunity where no two weeks look the same.
You'll work hands-on with Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Delta Lake and Power BI while also mentoring engineers, setting team standards, and helping win new work.WHAT YOU'LL BE DOINGDesign and build pipelines and lakehouse architectures on Azure and Databricks that customers genuinely depend onTransform messy source data into well-modelled Power BI reporting that drives real decisionsOwn technical design on engagements and hold the quality line on everything shippedRun discovery sessions and workshops directly with customers, turning business questions into data solutionsBuild data quality, testing, observability and governance in from the startLead pre-sales pursuits alongside directors — shaping solutions, sizing effort and presenting technical responsesMentor engineers and develop the standards and reusable patterns that lift the whole teamManage two or three concurrent engagements,



keeping variety high and the work interestingWHAT YOU'LL BRING8+ years of data engineering experience, with a consulting or professional services backgroundStrong SQL and Python with the judgement to favour straightforward over cleverHands-on experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Microsoft Fabric and Azure Data Lake StorageSolid Databricks and Apache Spark experience, including Delta Lake and layered architecturesData modelling depth across dimensional and lakehouse patternsPower BI skills spanning semantic modelling, DAX and report designSource control, CI/CD and environment management, ideally via Azure DevOpsA track record in pre-sales: solution shaping, effort estimation and technical proposal writingDemonstrated experience mentoring engineers and building capability around youFull working rights in Australia and willingness to complete a national police checkNICE TO HAVEMicrosoft certification such as DP-203 or DP-600, or a Databricks certificationExperience with dbt or similar transformation frameworksExposure to Azure AI Foundry, retrieval-augmented generation or responsible AI practiceExperience delivering into government or regulated environmentsBroader Microsoft digital transformation experienceABOUT TALENT STREETTalent Street is a specialist technology recruitment agency connecting top IT professionals with leading organisations across Australia.
