This is your opportunity to join a young butfast growingcompany in its formative years in Australia, building on our successful foundations in the United States.About the RoleThe Senior Systems Engineer will lead the design,deploymentand maintenance of secure data management platform indefenceenvironments.
This role encompasses full system lifecycle management, usersupportand technical leadership to ensure secure,compliantand high performing IT operations indefencealigned environments.Reporting to theBluestaqAustralia leadership team, you will:Architect andmaintaina resilient Linux server workplace, withdemonstratedexpertisein Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)Administer Active Directory, Group Policy, identity and access management (IAM) and network configurationsConfigure and manage firewalls,routersand switches, including VLANs, DNS and IAM integrationLead ongoing system maintenance, software installation, configuration, integratedtestingand troubleshootingAssistend users by addressing technical inquiries and resolving access or configuration issuesOversee patch management, configuration compliance, change control and vulnerability mitigationImplement system hardening in alignment with the ASD Essential Eight, Australian ISM and ACSC guidelines,



and conduct regular auditsLiaise with internal teams and external stakeholders; provide technical updates and recommendations to leadershipMaintain production Kubernetes (K8s) clusters across multiple on-premises environments, encompassing tasks such as deployment, scaling, monitoring (using tools like Prometheus/Grafana), and troubleshooting forcontainerisedapplications.Develop andmaintainautomation and scripting solutions (Ansible, Bash, PowerShell, Python) to streamline system operations, configurationmanagementand security complianceProvide technical mentorship and guidance to team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and engineering excellenceUse modern AI tools with judgment: integrating them into workflows where they're impactful, reviewing their outputs, and handling proprietary or sensitive data responsibly.About YouWe're looking for an experienced IT professional passionate about securesystemsindefencecontexts.You'llthrive here if you enjoy technical leadership, problemsolving, and contributing to meaningful missions.Essential Skills and Experience8–10+ years of relevant experience in systems engineering or IT infrastructure, ideally indefenceor government environmentsProvenexpertisein Active Directory and Linux system administrationStrong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skillsWillingness to travel within Australia to customer and partner locations,
