We're working with a well-established Australian organisation that is making a significant investment in AI and is looking for a Senior AI Engineer.This is a genuinely hands‐on senior role for someone who wants to stay close to the technology.
You'll be designing AI solutions, writing production code, making architectural decisions and tackling some of the more complex engineering challenges across LLMs, agents and contemporary AI applications.You'll also have the opportunity to influence how AI engineering is done across the organisation — from architecture and coding standards through to AI operationalisation, production engineering and reusable technical patterns.What you'll be doing:Design and architect scalable, secure AI solutions that move beyond experimentation and into productionBuild and ship production‐quality code across LLM and AI‐driven applicationsWork with LLMs, RAG, agentic architectures, prompt engineering and modern AI frameworksSolve complex technical problems across AI, software engineering and cloud environmentsEstablish engineering patterns, coding standards and development practices for AI deliveryDrive best practice around AI operationalisation, including evaluation, monitoring, deployment and observabilityReview code,



mentor engineers and provide technical direction across projectsEvaluate emerging AI technologies, frameworks and tools and determine where they can add genuine valueProvide technical leadership across internal and external engineering resources when requiredWhat we're looking for:Software engineering leadership experience, with strong recent experience building AI/ML solutionsProven experience taking AI systems from concept through to productionStrong Python skills and solid software engineering fundamentalsDeep understanding of LLMs, RAG, agents, prompt engineering and modern AI architecturesPractical experience with AI operationalisation, including evaluation, monitoring, deployment and production observabilityExperience working with major cloud AI platforms and servicesStrong understanding of CI/CD, testing, version control, security and scalable software architectureExperience making architectural decisions and setting engineering standardsA track record of mentoring engineers and providing technical leadershipYou'll have the autonomy to influence architecture, introduce better engineering practices and work on meaningful AI problems while the technology continues to evolve.
