Senior Corporate CounselCommercial and PrivacySydney/Hybrid WorkingAbout the CompanyA leading Australian multinational delivering essential services at scale across digital platforms is seeking an experienced privacy lawyer to join its Legal team.The RoleReporting to the General Counsel – Commercial & Data, this senior role leads privacy, data governance, and will also be responsible for AI advisory across the organisation.
You will partner closely with the Privacy Office, Data Office, and business stakeholders to embed privacy-by-design across consumer, commercial, and internal operations.Key ResponsibilitiesProviding commercially focused privacy advice that balances legal risk with business objectivesSupporting end-to-end management of privacy incidents and supporting Privacy Act reform readinessDrafting, reviewing and negotiating privacy and data protection clauses in commercial agreementsAdvising on data governance frameworks, policies, and operational practicesProvide legal guidance on AI and emerging technology initiatives,Identifying, assessing,



and mitigating privacy risks across new products, services, and initiativesAdvising on regulatory snd law enforcement obligationsManaging external law firms.Key RequirementsIdeally 10+ years' PQE ideally combining top-tier private practice and in-house experiencePrevious experience in telecommunications or regulated digital environments,Proven knowledge of the Privacy Act, Telecommunications Act and Spam ActStrong drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills with a solutions-oriented mindsetExcellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence senior leadersLeadership experience, including mentoring or guiding junior lawyersHighly autonomous, proactive, and able to manage competing priorities in a rapid-paced environmentBenefitsCompetitive remuneration and employee discountsFlexible working model (3 days office / 2 days remote)
