Discipline Team Lead - Civil Engineering Design
We are seeking an experienced and technically strong Discipline Team Lead to join a growing engineering team in Geelong.
This role is ideal for a senior civil design professional who combines deep technical expertise with strong leadership capability and a passion for developing people and delivering quality outcomes.
The successful candidate will bring extensive experience in civil engineering design, particularly across commercial civil infrastructure, water and stormwater networks, and pump station design, along with advanced capability in Civil 3D and 12d.
As Discipline Team Lead, you will work closely with the Discipline Director to support project delivery, lead and mentor team members, and help drive operational performance and business growth.
You will provide both technical leadership and people leadership while contributing to strategic planning and client relationship management.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you will continue to provide high-level technical input and project oversight while fostering a collaborative, accountable and high-performing team culture.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
Provide visible and supportive leadership across the discipline teamConduct regular one-on-one check-ins focused on development, well-being, and continuous improvementMentor and coach engineers and designers to build technical capability and career growthFoster a respectful, inclusive, and high-performing team culture
Technical & Project Delivery




Lead and review civil engineering designs across commercial and infrastructure projectsProvide technical oversight and support in:Civil commercial developmentsWater and stormwater infrastructurePump station designCoordinate and support project delivery outcomes across the teamEnsure quality, efficiency and technical excellence in design documentation
Operational Management
Monitor team utilisation, forecasting, invoicing and project performanceReview and approve timesheets and assist with resource planningSupport recruitment activities and workforce planningAssist in maintaining robust project delivery and commercial outcomes
Clients & Business Development
Maintain strong client relationships and provide trusted technical adviceSupport business development initiatives and identify opportunities for growthContribute to securing future project pipelines
About You
Significant experience in civil engineering design within a consulting environmentStrong technical expertise in:Civil commercial projectsWater and stormwater infrastructurePump station designAdvanced proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D and 12dProven experience leading or mentoring technical teamsStrong communication and stakeholder management skillsAbility to balance technical delivery, people leadership and commercial awarenessRelevant tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering
