FYMHS provides specialist youth mental health care in custodial settings (Parkville and Cherry Creek sites) to young people and their families/carers.Our service is made up of compassionate, curious, and committed people.

we are looking for a committed Senior AOD Clinician to provide clinical leadership, dual diagnosis, supervision, and governance to a multidisciplinary team supporting young people in custody, with a focus on recovery-oriented care.Why Join PYMHWS?
Be part of building a legacy for youth mental health in VictoriaWork alongside passionate, visionary leaders in a values-led organisationSalary packaging options, up to $11,600 tax free earningsFlexible working arrangements including remote work options where possibleEmployee wellbeing focused, access to EAPFitness passport membershipFlexible, inclusive, and supportive workplace cultureOpportunities for professional growth and developmentAbout the Role:The Senior Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Clinician will work in collaboration with the Custodial FYMHS Specialist Services Lead and the Custodial FYMHS multidisciplinary team to develop excellence in clinical service delivery in the areas of specialist addiction assessment and intervention.You will be joining a skilled and supportive team in a dual diagnosis AOD specialist roleto help develop and support an enhanced model of care across PYMHWS' Custodial FYMHS team.What You'll Do:Assist and support young people in custody to address harmful behaviours resulting from problematic substance useManage and undertake AOD-specific assessments and interventions.Provide care team consultation, liaison and support, service linkages for young people within and exiting custody.Conduct mental health assessments,



formulate treatment plans, and provide psychological treatment, crisis intervention, family support, and systems containment for young people in need of immediate care and their families.Deliver clinical care that aligns with PYMHWS client-focused, accessible, and evidence-based standards, ensuring it is culturally safe, trauma-informed, and responsive to the diverse needs of all young people and families, including those from LGBTQI+, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, and multicultural and multifaith diverse populations.Establish and maintain strong partnerships with key agencies, community groups, and service providers through consultation, liaison, and collaborative projects, including but not limited to AOD services, Youth Justice, and primary care providers.Engage in professional development through FYMHS-specific and broader young mental health training initiatives.About You:A mental health clinician experienced in, and passionate about, early intervention and evidence based care for young people experiencing severe mental health difficulties including personality disorder.Eligible disciplines: Grade 4 RPN, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker and Grade 3 PsychologistRelevant registration and qualifications (see position description for details)Minimum 5 years' experience in tertiary and/or youth mental health and a demonstrated ability to supervise mental health clinicians, and function both autonomously and collaboratively with other clinical and organisational leadersDemonstrated understanding of interventions for reducing alcohol and drug related harmA sound knowledge of the youth justice and/or criminal justice system and other relevant community based forensic servicesMotivated by youth-focused, inclusive, and recovery-oriented care
