About the team
Sitting within the
Corporate and Strategy Division
, the
Technology, Data & Digital Enablement Branch
is a critical enabling service that includes the following functions:
IT Operations and Cyber Security
Business Applications
Data, Information Management and AI
The Branch also works closely with its counterparts within the ACMA in the delivery of some shared corporate ICT services but operates its own cloud platform, specialist business systems and digital products related to eSafety's regulatory operations.
These include all public facing digital services accessed via eSafety.gov.au and back-end systems to support regulatory compliance and enforcement, complaint handling, investigations, intelligence, and data analytics capabilities.
The
IT Operations and Cyber Security Team
is responsible for providing Enterprise Architecture, maintaining ICT infrastructure, Service Desk, ICT Procurement and Cyber Security.
The Cyber Security function supports the operation of secure and trusted systems by:
Proactively managing eSafety's cyber security landscape.
Implementing, managing and monitoring fit-for-purpose security tools.
Maintaining awareness and integrating with whole-of-government security frameworks.
Supporting and advising eSafety staff to understand their security responsibilities.
The IT Operations and Cyber Security team is a key advisor to the Chief Information and Data Officer (CIDO) and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and Cyber Security Steering Committee.
The team undertakes a range of functions to support the CIDO & CISO, including developing and maintaining risk,



compliance and system accreditation registers.
The team is also responsible for cyber security operations, working collaboratively with a broad range of key internal and external stakeholders and service providers to drive and deliver security outcomes through program, project and business as usual activities.
About the role
This is an exciting prospect to make a difference in a small and growing agency working on the front lines of online safety.
As the
Cyber Security Analyst
, you will be at the front line of the eSafety's cyber defence.
Your day-to-day will involve delivery of a range of strategic and tactical cyber security activities to protect our information and systems from cyber security threats.
You will be a key contributor to the implementation of the eSafety's cyber security strategy and support the development of security policy, standards, processes and procedures to enable us to achieve our cyber security objectives.
The
Cyber Security Analyst
reports to the IT Security & Operations Manager and works consultatively and collaboratively with all members of the IT Security team, and key project personnel that support cyber security maturity uplift and resilience initiatives.
You will use your specialist skills and draw from your experience to inform, guide and advise leaders, peers and stakeholders on cyber security matters of the Technology, Data & Digital Enablement Branch.
The key duties of the position include:
deploying, configuring and maintaining technologies to detect and respond to cyber security threats.
monitoring, analysing and responding to cyber security events and incidents
gathering,



assessing and reporting on cyber threat intelligence and cyber security trends
contribute to governance, risk and compliance activities, including security reviews and audits, system authorisation processes, and threat, risk, and security assessments
providing advice and specialist cyber security expertise to the business, to enable business outcomes that adhere to security policy and align with strategic security objectives
actively monitoring and responding to developments in the security landscape, including maintaining awareness and contemporary knowledge of industry best practice and Australian Government security policies and frameworks such as the PSPF, ISM and Essential Eight
developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders and service providers, to ensure effective and sustainable design and implementation of security solutions.
Eligibility
To be eligible for employment with eSafety, applicants must be Australian citizens.
The successful applicant must be able to obtain and maintain a
Negative Vetting 1 security clearance
or hold a current security clearance of an appropriate level.

At eSafety, you'll be part of a passionate team under the leadership of an independent Commissioner who is supported by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA).
Our eSafety staff are ACMA employees who are subject to the terms and conditions of employment in the ACMA's Enterprise Agreement *********.
Suitable candidates may be placed in a merit pool from this selection process and the pool may be used to fill similar ongoing or non-ongoing roles.
