Our Business Units
BWE Drilling - Drill & Blast
Our Drill & Blast division delivers full production drilling and specialised blasting services across mining and civil projects.
Services are designed to achieve high productivity while minimising impact on surrounding environments and active operations.
BWE Drilling - Exploration
Our Exploration division is an established drilling contractor supporting exploration and mining programs with Air Core, Reverse Circulation and Diamond Drilling services.
The team works across diverse greenfield and brownfield projects in Australia.
BWE Drilling - Waterwell
Our Waterwell division specialises in water bore drilling and well services, operating across local government and Tier 1 mining clients in Australia.
Projects range from mine‐site water supply to deep artesian bore drilling.
The Role
This position has responsibility for all aspects of accounting and financial performance for the group's largest operating business unit.
You will work closely with operational leaders, acting as a trusted finance partner while also supporting selected group-level finance functions.
While the role does not have direct reports, it is a key influencing position, both within the Finance team,
and within the operating business with the goal of driving efficiencies, process simplification and standardisation where possible.
Key responsibilities include:
End-to-end management accounting for a major business unit
Monthly management reporting, analysis and commentary
Annual budgeting and periodic forecasting
Cash-flow management at both business-unit and group level
Job, contract and operational performance analysis
BAS preparation and submission
Preparation of statutory financial statements for an unlisted entity
Partnering with operational teams to support commercial decision-making
Driving process improvements to improve efficiency and speed of reporting
Contributing to broader group financial performance and initiatives
Required Experience & Skills
Proven experience in the mining services or contracting sector
Robust management accounting background
Very good working knowledge of Xero
BAS preparation and compliance experience
Budgeting and forecasting experience
Experience preparing statutory financial statements for an unlisted entity
Cash-flow management experience
About You
CA or CPA qualified
Previous management accounting roles within mining services or contracting businesses
Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a growing business
Comfortable working in a small, high-performing team
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing demands
Willingness and ability to both mentor and be mentored
Proven ability to build respectful, effective relationships across finance and operations
Strong process-improvement mindset
While leading finance for one business unit, a genuine interest in overall group performance
