Role: Principal Electrical Engineer – Renewable EnergyLocation: Perth based, occasional travel to site.
Length: 12 Months, with high likelihood of extensionRate: Negotiable & Highly competitive
If you're a senior electrical engineer who's spent years making the big technical calls on major power projects, this could be one of the more compelling opportunities in the WA market right now.
I'm working with a major project owner delivering a large-scale renewable energy development that's already well into construction.
With civil works underway, electrical infrastructure progressing and energisation targeted for early ****, they're looking for a Principal Electrical Engineer to become the key technical authority across the project.
The RoleThis is a genuine technical leadership position rather than a people management role.
You'll be the person the project turns to when the answer isn't obvious.
Working alongside a team of electrical engineers, construction personnel and specialist contractors, you'll provide technical direction across HV infrastructure, substations, protection systems, grid connection requirements, commissioning and energisation activities.
The project team is looking for someone who can challenge assumptions, simplify complex problems and make sound engineering decisions when it matters most.
Key ExperienceDegree qualified Electrical Engineer.
Extensive experience delivering generation, transmission, mining, utilities or renewable energy projects.Strong background in HV systems, substations, protection and power systems.
Experience managing HV submissions and compliance approvals.
Proven involvement through construction, commissioning and energisation phases.
Existing Principal Engineer experience is ideal, although strong Lead or Senior Electrical Engineers ready for the next step will also be considered.
Why This Role?
This isn't a role where you'll spend your time reviewing paperwork from a distance.
The project is happening now.
Infrastructure is being built, major equipment is arriving on site, and the team needs someone who can provide practical technical leadership as the project moves towards commissioning and energisation.
It's also the sort of opportunity that can open doors beyond a single project.
With a substantial renewable energy pipeline planned over the coming years, there is genuine scope for long-term involvement beyond the initial delivery phase.
If you'd like to discuss the role in confidence, get in touch with me at ******.
Happy to talk through the project, team structure and technical challenges before you make any decisions.
